Vehicle Detail
1973 Suzuki T500. 9543 original miles. Fast, fun, strong runner. The good: 9500 original miles Clear title in my name Runs great Starts in 2-3 kicks Good chain Good tires New exhaust seals Inside of the tank is clean Has the left hand side cover (a lot of these bikes are missing them) Everything works as it should Very little rust (all cosmetic) Gets more attention than you'd think for an old Japanese bike You won't see 100 of them parked outside the bar every Friday night Everything else: Tank was dented on left side by PO and filled with bondo Side cover has crack in the top of it (fixed with epoxy and not noticeable on the bike) Amateur paint job done with Ed Roth Sublime Green flake (looks sharp from 5', clear has a few areas that could use buffed out, scratch in paint on top of side cover) Petcock recently started leaking and will need a rebuild kit ($30 fix) Headlight glass is cracked (works fine though) No mirrors Missing the 500 badge for the side cover (I have the oil tank badge) Seat vinyl has a 3" split on the left side Reluctantly putting my 1973 T500 up for sale due to health reasons. I've owned two of these bikes over the years and swore I wouldn't sell this one, but I have bills to pay and need the money. I picked this one up a few years ago from an older gentleman that put 8000 miles on it then parked it in his garage for years. He told me the tank dent was from pipes he had stacked onto shelves that fell onto it. His son had filled it with bondo and primed that side of the tank. I had plans to eventually restore it and decided to just flake it with some Roth flake for the time being. Fits the bike like the 70's screamer it is. I've put some light riding in over the past 2 summers and racked up another 1500 miles on it. Runs great, a little piston slap which is very common on these machines, but smooth otherwise with tons of low end torque. These were not your typical high revving two strokes. Completely stock other than the paint. Does have some surface rust in a few areas (mainly the turn signal arms and exhaust cooling ring) but no rot. Video of the bike running... http://youtu.be/HJ520qWyzJE I will be as helpful as possible, but have neither the time or want to be crating a bike and dragging it off somewhere, so shipping arrangements and costs are up to you. $300 deposit due within 48 hours of auctions end. I'm very easy to deal with and want nothing more than for both of us to have a smooth transaction we can both walk away feeling good about, so please don't bid if you can't pay. Thanks.
