Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for grabs is my 1994 Toyota Celica GT. It has been a great daily driver for me, but I have a great deal pending on a hybrid so will no longer need this car. It just rolled over 194k mi, as you know these motors can surpass the 250k mark easy with some approaching 300k! The engine is the larger 2.2L with a 5sp trans, with a combo city/highway I average 31mpg. Recently I took it on trips to PA and OH and averaged 34mpg. I will list the pros and cons of the car as it is now. Car still gets driven every day until it's sold so expect another 35-40 miles a day added to the mileage until it sells. Pros: NO RUST ON THE BODY PANELS!!!!!!!!!!!! Was mostly a southern car! Engine runs excellent and clutch/transmission function well as they should ALL power accessories work (the driver window is a little noisy but functions), has power windows, locks mirrors and cruise control The AC is ICE COLD and heat works great as well. Has new Alpine CD/MP3 player and 4-Kicker 6.5” speakers A bunch of new parts installed by me at 160k (when I got the car): FULL TUNEUP- platinum plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor cap/rotor, cleaned injectors Air filter was replaced with an aftermarket piece as the factory plastic housing had a crack All new brake pads/rotors and new Monroe struts all around. New CV axle on passenger side with lifetime warranty Passed sniffer emissions test here with flying colors (have paperwork) Does not leak or burn oil, I check the oil weekly and it does not go down. Maintained with Castrol high-mileage oil and PureOne filter every 4k Windows tinted 5% all the way around with sun strip, may or may not be illegal for you, it does come off easily with care if need be Clear IN Title in hand ready to go Cons (with explanations): The rear suspension is somewhat noisy at low speeds (I have owned 2 celicas and even with new struts they are all like this), others with the same car confirm as well Even though all of the brake components are new it seems to squeak slightly sometimes when stopping, I was told sometimes the metal shims (tangs) on there do that even though the pads/rotors are in excellent shape The paint was redone in matte black, 2 dents on the car were “somewhat” filled with bondo, I just never messed with it but I’m sure someone can make it look a bit better than what it is, the paint was not done well at all with it coming off on the rear bumper and barely sprayed in the jambs, however I didn’t buy the car for its looks. The paint seems very durable on the metal body pieces however and they are covered decent. Another very very small dent on the hatch lid The interior is in really nice shape for its age,no cracks in dash etc, small tear on the side of the driver’s seat, (very common) top of rear seats got some staining on them but not bad at all. Oh and the spot you see in the rear interior pic is glare from the camera. The tires are not worn to the cord or anything but could use to be replaced within a few thousand miles. Could use an alignment as well with all the potholes around here, it pulls to the left at times, most would get it done with new tires anyway, if I kept it and replaced them I would have. The timing belt is due for a change within 5k, If you did let it go longer however it is the type of engine that will not cause other damage (non interference) if the belt went. Cost of belt kit is $57 and quoted 2 hrs of labor for a shop to do it.Another very small item to note, when you use the power locks to unlock from outside the car, you must do it on the passenger side, turn key twice and it opens both doors, may just need a new outside key cylinder on the drivers side which are super cheap, it never bothered me enough though. Inside the car the lock/unlock functions well on both sides so no issue there. I try to list everything 110% good and bad on all my auctions and I have sold several vehicles on here. Even with the few flaws the car has, KBB lists private party value of $2160 in its exact current condition. I hate letting dealers have my cars as trades as I can make a better deal with cash in hand. I am starting the bidding on this car super cheap at $1200 which is what the dealer offered for it. I have yet to see one online at all even with more mileage and has rust, list for less than $2500. I feel it is priced very accordingly given the very few things it does need. The car is a perfect daily driver and has a lot of life left, It has served me well and will be perfect for a student/commuter as a true gas saver. The GT handles great as well and was a real sports car back in 94. Terms: I work a “schedule” that is all over the place (aviation), If you want to see the car before auction end, it may be possible however I cannot guarantee it as our schedule can change literally within a few hours. That is why I describe everything to a T. No test drives without cash in hand. Car is sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied as with most private sale used cars. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I will not accept paypal for full payment, deposit only. Cash due upon pickup and must pickup within 7 days, I will coordinate with the buyer whenever is a good time for both of us for pickup. *NO TRADES at all!! Please don’t ask, for some reason people still do, again NO TRADES! thanks* Thanks for looking and good luck! Any further questions feel free to message me, Steve and PS I am well aware of my ebay username, it was up there as a joke back in 2002, I actually find the mid 90's Japanese vehicles to be some of the longest lasting, best quality vehicles out there
