Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 project. The car has a non-matching '70 400 engine and a console T400 auto transmission. I have the PHS documents for the car (pics provided), and it's a highly-optioned car. The car also has the heralded buildsheet that is in pretty good condition. It has been painted back to its original color - Montego Cream. The interior is black and the seats are in good, useable condition with no tears. Some features include a hood tach, a/c, power steering, brakes, windows, tilt-wheel and a console clock. A lot of the sheetmetal work has been installed - it has new floors, trunk pan and extensions, inner and outer wheelhouse fenders, quarters, trunk lid and front GM fenders. I just had a brand new windshield installed. New fender trim and rocker panel trim has been put on the car. New carpet, sound deadener and most weather stripping are included with the sale. I have new side-view mirrors (rectangular for '68) as well. The car also comes with a front disc brake conversion kit from Matt's Classic Bowtie. Only the bottom portion was purchased, as the car is an original power front disc brake car, and all of booster/proportioning valve parts still are present for that set-up.Although a lot of the extensive work has been completed, it still does need work. It needs minor repair to the passenger rear frame rail, and I am assuming the driver's rear frame rail will need work as well. The area where it meets the floor and down the sides of the right rail look good, but the bottom of the rail needs patching or reinforcement. Quality after-market frame rails are sold new for $150 - $200 apiece, but a good fabricator could probably repair it without installing new frame rails. There is also some rust issue on the backside of the rocker panels, and evidence of someone trying to repair the rockers rather sloppily. It looks good from the outside, but underneath, it doesn't look very well done. See the pictures. For a fun cruiser, it's not a big deal, but to someone making a show-quality car, new rockers would fix this problem. I have started to seamseal the car but didn't finish. The car does start and run (on a boat gas tank in the trunk) to move around. I have left one of the body plugs out of the trunk to allow the gas line to enter the trunk area. I have mostly everything to put it back together; however, the bumpers and other parts are not in excellent condition, but in good useable condition. The steering column has tilt on it and the steering wheel appears to be from a newer generation Firebird (not sure what year). The car is rock solid otherwise. I'm selling this car because I have lost interest in the project . The car has so much potential and is definitely a car worth finishing, as it is a true 400 car loaded with really nice options. It's also very nice to have the original buildsheet! It's needs a handy person to finish it, and if you can do the work yourself, it could be a great investment. It will also need new tires and one beauty ring for the Rallye II wheels. Thanks for looking at this auction. If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer them for you. Some of these pictures were taken earlier this year, and I hope to be taking more when I can get the car back outside. The only difference is some of the trim has been applied to the car, the emblems are on it and the windshield has been installed. Buyer pays all shipping/handling charges. Thank you. On Jan-01-12 at 21:28:55 PST, seller added the following information: The interior panels are in rough shape - they are included in the sale of the car, and I will try to get some pictures soon. However, if you are interested in the car, definitely consider adding new deluxe panels to your budget in the restoration costs. Thank you.
