1999.5 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel168,xxx miles (still driving it)1.9L TDI engine, 5spd manual transmission. History.I'm the 3rd owner. I bought it from the brother of the original owner ~6 months ago. One blemish on the carfax, and all it was was a rear bumper cover replacement early on in her life (OEM replacement part, no aftermarket!). I bought her for a daily driver, but my daughters orthodontist combined with terrible dental insurance has assured me I need to get rid of this car. New stuff in the past year.Timing belt, tensioner, and water pump with all associated rollers replaced at 142K miles. Injection pump was rebuilt at the same time. New MAF sensor at 161K miles. Intake manifold was removed and cleaned at 164K miles. Injectors were removed and sent to kermatdi at 165K miles. All were professional rebuilt and balanced, and 20/20 nozzles installed. Vacuum pump o-ring and valve cover replaced. Passenger front ball joint replaced. Drivers front inner CV boot replaced. Issues/quirks.When cold, she starts hard. When I say hard, it takes about 6 full seconds of cranking to start. If you cycle the glow plugs multiple times, it cuts it down to 2-3 seconds. After it starts, it smokes. Goes away as soon as you start driving. Very slight drivebelt noise when cold, coming from the alternator pulley. I have a replacement, but it isn't skipping/jumping yet, and it goes away when it warms up a bit, so I haven't installed it. Does come with the car. The door seals have an integrated piece of fabric. 2 of the fabric pieces fell off and were removed. Most people wouldn't even notice, but I don't like to hide anything. She needs buffed. Still looks good, very presentable, but anyone familiar with really nice automotive finishes, can tell she really needs a buffer to bring the paint back to life. This is a FANTASTIC car. I love to drive it. I upgraded the wheels and added the roof rack. I REALLY don't want to get rid of her, but my daughter needs braces. I drive her at least 3 times a week, ~20 highway miles one way to work. Absolutely love it. I am a Volkswagen Master Certified technician at a Vw dealer, and I've been all over this car. None of the little quirks bug me about this car, just add character. If they bug you, or they might bug you, please don't bid. I guarantee if you just want a reliable, highly efficient vehicle, that's pretty attractive, you'll LOVE her as I do. GL model, so you don't have to worry about all the electrical gremlins that break on the optioned out models. The glovebox isn't broken! (very common). Crank windows, so never get stuck with those down. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have, provide additional pictures, or be available to offer test drives. Just ask!
