Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 On Dec-10-11 at 18:30:17 PST, seller added the following information: I keep receiving questions about the extent of rust on this car. Some people want to know if there is any rust, and others want to know where. Here is my one and only reply. Of course this car has rust. It has spent its entire 25 years in the Northeast where rust happens. Salt is spread on roads to melt the ice and salt initiates rust. No this car has not been in an accident. It has a trunk dent and a small dent on the roof. Neither stopped me from buying the car because I found them to be reasonable. All of these 190s, unless they were never driven during inclement weather, exhibit rust at the jack points. Thankfully, M-B metal conditioning was very good during this era. My car has rust, but the rust is manageable. Manageable means that if you actually want the body to be perfect you will take the car to your favorite auto body repair shop and have the rust cut out, sanded down, removed, dissolved or whatever else those shops do to make your car rust free. Then the shop will bang out the dents and dings etc. to further satisfy your desire for a perfect body. A ding is a small depression. There are not many and how they happened only God knows at this point. When I purchased the car I did not care to ask the owner where the dings came from. No, I am not going to photograph and count the dings. For all of you who know what you are bidding on, rest assured the body of this car is not destroyed. I would not have bought the car if I determined it was a rusting hulk piece of junk that needed to visit a car crusher. Also, the factory paint job on this car, again from being used all its 25 years in the winter (recall 195,000 miles) is worn out. So, in addition, if you again want the body to be perfect, you will have the rust removed, the dents and dings repaired, and you will have the shop apply your favorite paint color. For all of you who have bid and all who want to, please stop or please don't if you are looking to buy a rust free Benz without any body problems. I spent a good amount of money taking care of the mechanical issues listed. Those are listed. Yes, the rear axles on these cars are ruined in order to replace the rear backing plates. It is nothing a mechanic would have designed, but it is what it is. New axles and backing plates. Please remember that this auction did not have a reserve price. If you need a new Mercedes-Benz, then by all means available to you, go purchase a new car at one of their dealerships. For everyone else that is interested in a 1986 M-B 190D, I thank you for your bids.
