Vehicle Detail
This is my 1987 Chevrolet Malibu Classic station wagon, numbers matching 305V8, factory 4 speed on the floor, posi-rear, AC, gauge package, deluxe interior, rally wheels, roof rack, am/fm, etc. It's fully loaded for the time. The car is bone stock, and completely original save for the tires. This is as close as one could get to an 'SS' package in 1978. No true 'SS' was offered. It has a stock 2-barrel carburetor, as no 4-barrel was offered in 78. I am the second owner. I purchased it in April 1986. It was traded in at Heimbach & Sweatt Chevrolet, Pennsburg PA, where it was sold new. Then it had 68K. Today it has 70K miles. I drove it less than one year, maybe six months. Then my father wanted it after he sold his VW Microbus. He wanted it to take my younger brother to college in Boston. So I swapped it with my father for a 56 Ford. That was back in late 86. I remember driving the wagon to my father's home. I parked it in the upstairs portion of his barn. It never moved since. Its been parked for over 25 years, or since it was 8 years young. My father died last year. Turns out he never even transferred the title, which is still in my name. A Pennsylvania 'B' title which confirms me as the second owner. I also have my paperwork from when I first bought it. As of this writing, I have no so much as put a battery in. I have not tried to start it. I did not so much as push the brake pedal. All I did was pump up the tires, pull it from the barn, vacuum and wash the exterior. I did not so much as touch the inside. What you see is what you get. Parked for 25 years , still sporting its 1987 Pa state inspection. Its as rust free as it could come. Not even a cracked dash. Thankfully the battery was removed, so the battery box did not rust away. The mice did not eat the interior and after a decent wash, the car looks pretty good. Under the hood and inside looks perfectly normal, but the headliner fell apart in the rear section behind the back seat. The engine block still shows blue and the inner fender wells still show paint. When I parked the car, there was not a mark on it. It was a perfect car. Today there are some surface imperfections in the exterior paint, some dulling in the bright-work and, of course, it does not run. Frankly, you dont want some rank amateur like me to start it. I think the chrome will clean up well, and you might save the majority of the original paint, but the exterior paint does have many surface defects, none of which were on the car when I parked it. I do have the missing driver's door trim, which fell off while parked. There is no rust to speak of. I attempted to document this car on photobucket. Search there under user id 'dnaj11". Pix of it are shown in the barn, and pulling it out. Or email, and I'll send you the link, or make an appointment to see it. Car and I are located in Kempton, PA about 20 minutes NW of Allentown, PA. Car is being sold as is, where is. Selling here with no reserve. $500 deposit due at close of auction. Full payment due in 10 days. Take up to 30 days to come for the car so long as its paid for. Thanks for looking.
