Vehicle Detail

1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-29 This 442 is highly documented to prove the authenticity of a real Four -Four- Two. It has the original dealer invoice, shipping order, warranty, protect-o-plate, owner's manual, emission control system manual, consumer information manual, and the BUILD SHEET. The car was originally sold new out of North Carolina where it lived for the first 9 years. There are over 30 years of detailed receipts to prove how well this sweet car was kept. I purchased this 442 a few months ago from an older lady that received the car from her elderly mother (father had died 15 yrs prior). I have receipts that date back as far as the 70's, but the mother was the second owner from 1981 until the daughter acquired the car from her in 2009. She stated she always had the cool mom of the neighborhood. They told me that this car had always been garage kept during all 40 years of its existence. They also said that the engine is original to the car. Some of the options on this 442 include the L34 350/4bbl engine. The M in the VIN stipulates that this 350 has 200 net horsepower. The car also has black interior with bucket seats, console and dual exhaust. The spark plugs and spark plug wires were just replaced. The oil, oil filter, and air cleaner were all just replaced. There are no leaks anywhere on the undercarriage. The body has had only one repaint that was done in 1988 which looks amazing for its age (I just recently polished it, too). Just a few minor dings/scratches on the paint, but that is to be expected for its age. The paint job receipt from 1988 shows that they spent around $3200, so you know it was done right. This is a true code 75 Matador red car. I believe this is the hottest most desirable color combination for all muscle car enthusiast. This body shows extremely well. I would say that the body is virtually laser straight, and there will be no disappointments. This is the type of muscle car that you can just jump in and enjoy. The only time the previous owner took the car out was to go to local car shows on Summer weekends. I have about a dozen trophies, that they gave me, and will be included in this sale. This car won consistently for best in show and originality, etc. It still has the original vinyl top that is still in relatively good condition. This car came originally with the striping package, but the wider W-30 stripes replaced the smaller side stripes. The chrome and trim are all in excellent, shiny condition including a new cut-out back bumper with new trumpet dual exhaust tips. As shown in the pictures the interior shows very well and is basically all original. This car has air conditioning that had worked for the previous owner in the recent past. The belt is currently off, and I'm sure it would need a recharge. There are power front disc brakes that stop the car very well with power steering. The original AM/FM stereo lights up when you turn it on, but the rear speakers were removed when the rear package tray was replaced. Hooking up the stereo will be left up to the next owner. This car has matching dual sport mirrors, and a tinted windshield. There are no cracks in the dashboard, and the headliner is very nice with all the original seat-belts working as they should. This car has the custom sport steering wheel, and the horn still works well. All the head lights, bright lights, turn signals, tail lights, brake lights, license plate light, dome, console, interior lighting, and the safety belt buzzer still all work very well. The speedometer, odometer, gas gauge and other dash warning lights also work well. The Super Stock I wheels have almost new raised white lettered tires that make this car float like a dream down the road. The trunk comes with a full size Super Stock I spare and the original jack. This car has the W-29 442 option that came with the FE2 suspension package with front and rear sway bars (See build sheet). The heavy duty rear springs and shocks were recently replaced. The original 10 bolt rear end is geared at 2.73. This is one of the most complete 40 year old cars that you will find on the market today without having to pay the crazy money of a live auction. The Nada Classic Car guide has the '72 442 at $39,330 in high value, and $18,285 in average value. I would consider this 442 in better than average value. An original car like this will always maintain its value, and consistently increase in value as long as it is well taken care of. I have a very reasonable reserve, and this 442 will sell to the highest bidder that meets the reserve on Sunday evening at 7:30pm central time. This car is extremely solid. The floors, trunk, and frame are all in very nice condition, unlike the majority of these cars from the Midwest. As far as other rust spots go, you will only find minor surface rust in the usual places, like the trunk, engine bay and undercarriage, etc. (see photos). I welcome and encourage anyone to come out and view the car for themselves to see how truly nice this 442 is. This 442 really drives down the street great and handles like an almost new car, in my opinion. I have only owned this car for 4 months and it has been in my garage practically the whole time. If I have missed anything, please contact me with any questions whatsoever and I will reply ASAP. I did little detailing of the car, I would rather show the car as I received it and let the next owner do with it as he/she wishes. This way you can see what you have and nothing is covered up. I am no classic car expert, but I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability. This is simply one great car!! I work evenings, so feel free to call me anytime in the morning at 414-232-4464. Thank You!
