This Rabbit was manufactured in July of 1981. I purchased this used car from my rommate in 1984. The oil was changed every 3,000 miles with API rated diesel engine oil. The vehicle had one clutch installed at 80,000 miles. The vehicle had a remanufactured head put on at 97,000 miles. Front wheel bearings were installed at 120,000 miles. The car had some minor front end damage repaired at a collision shop in 1997. The fuel pump was rebuilt in 2006. The odometer stopped working at 130,369 miles. The speedometer no longer operates. A safe estimate of milage on the car is 150,000 miles. The Rabbit currently has symptoms of running out of fuel after 2.5 gallons (100 miles driven) have been used. Refill the car, and it starts back up. The car is timed perfectly and starts quickly after the Glow Plug Light goes out and the key is turned one more time. Starts fine below 20F and has an unused plug-in block heater. The exhaust system is original.What the Rabbit needs: Clutch, Windshield, Front Strut Cartridges, Fuel problem fixed, Alternator, Hatchback cartridges, Right Wiper Arm and calibrate fuel gauge sending unit.What the Rabbit could use: Front Hood, Right Front Door dent fixed, Head Liner, Upholstery work and painting. The vehicle has been described to the best of my recollection. The milage and date numbers given are approximate. Looking at the vehicle in person is recommended.
