Vehicle Detail
This is tough....but I'm selling my beloved '79 Scout. It has 345 V8 engine, with 4 barrel intake manifold and quadrajet carb. 3-spd auto 727 transmission and 4-wheel drive. The drive train is stock but the engine was refreshed some 5K miles ago with a short-block rebuild. This Scout was factory fitted with the deluxe interior trim including bucket seats and A/C. The previous owner installed a ’76 grill, but it is indeed a 1979 model. Extras: A 3-inch lift kit installed with steering rag-joint properly replaced with u-joint connector. Included is a custom made roll bar (has optional full cage bar), bumper hitch receiver and air shocks. I repainted the truck with the terra cotta stock color 8 years ago along with replacing the rally stripes. Interior add-ons: G/T sport steering wheel, Pioneer (Detachable face) radio/CD with amp &4 Blaupunkt speakers, CB radio with PA speaker. Installing carpet, repainted shifting console, and replacing old seat storage-box with the good Tuffy box unit all lends to a snappy look, improved comfort, and better storage. The bucket seats are protected with custom-fitted neoprene-camo seat covers by Hatchie Bottom from Bass Pro Shop. However, the original plaid seat covering remains in amazingly good condition. Minimal rusting on the interior bucket was arrested 10 years ago with a thorough coating of a quality inhibitor followed by a carefully-placed layer of foil-backed insulation before the new carpet was installed. Overall: Scouter types will recall how naturally cold natured these trucks are; yet how much better a ‘79 sounds and drives with this quadrajet carb buckled to the 4 barrel intake manifold as opposed to the 2 barrel set-up. The automatic choke works as it should. When it warms up the engine runs strong and purrs smoothly at idle. This Texas Scout is garage-stored and I opt to drive it in our fairer climate without the hard top (included; repainted and garage-stored). The current top is a bikini soft cover connecting the windshield rail to the roll bar. Also a custom fitted railing and rugged tonneau cover protects the rear seat and bed. This Scout has been well cared for in the 10 years I’ve owned it. The file is full of receipts on improvements and maintenance records along with related info on this vehicle. It has the usual dings, imperfections becoming of a 1979 Scout driven occasionally. The body and coating is not perfect, but still gets “thumbs-up” and nods from passer-bys. As expected, this unit is being sold "AS-IS", and bidders are encouraged to ask questions to be fully satisfied upon becoming the sucessful bidder. This is a goodern! Hardtop included; it is easily removed/installed. Not perfect paint, has a couple of small dents too.
