1978 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM OTHER THAN OUR VERY REASONABLE MINIMUM RESERVE, HERE'S 6 REASONS WHY THIS IS A HARD TO FIND & DESIRABLE T/A: #1. ONE OF THE MOST DESIRABLE YEAR T/A's EVER MADE. ALTHOUGH 77's LOOK SIMILAR, BY 1978 GM HAD MADE MANY IMPROVEMENTS ON THE CAR. MOST NOTABLY: #2. THE FACTORY FISHER T-TOP's MANY WERE EITHER HARD TOPS OR "HURST" HATCHES. THE HURST HATCHES WERE SMALLER, HAD SERIOUS LEAK ISSUES & BECAUSE OF THE DUAL LATCHES, WERE MORE AWKWARD. GM / FISHER VASTLY IMPROVED THE LOOKS & FUNCTIONALITY WITH THEIR OWN DESIGN. #3. FACTORY PONTIAC 6.6 LITER / 400 TOO MANY OF THESE HAD THE ANEMIC OLDSMOBILE 403's BECAUSE GM HAD STOPPED MAKING THE REAL PONTIAC 400's. THE OLD's "CORPORATE" ENGINE DID NOT COMPARE WELL AT ALL TO THE PONTIAC 6.6. PLUS, IF YOU HAVE THE CHOICE, WHO WANT's A CLASSIC PONTIAC W/O PONTIAC POWER? #4. FACTORY BLACK ON BLACK CAR THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, BUT ALTHOUGH I LOVE THESE CARS IN ANY COLOR I CAN FIND THEM IN, THERE'S IS ONE CLEAR FAVORITE. AS NICE AS THE OTHER COLORS ARE, WE ALL KNOW BURT DROVE A BLACK ON BLACK CAR. #5. NO RUST ISSUES SADLY MANY OF THE SURVIVORS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY BEING IN RUST PRONE AREAS. THIS IS A CALIFORNIA CAR & HAS NO RUST ISSUES. NONE, NADA, ZIP, ZERO, ETC. (YOU GET THE IDEA.) #6. IT IS A VERY STRAIGHT CAR AS WELL MANY OF THESE CARS WERE ALSO BADLY DAMAGED FROM ACCIDENTS USUALLY INVOLVING LARGE NUMBERS OF POLICE VEHICLES & SEMI's OR JUMPING BRIDGES, ETC. THIS ONE HAS SOME SMALL DINGS HERE & THERE. BUT AFTER LOOKING IT OVER CLOSELY, THE UNIBODY STRUCTURE OF THIS CAR IS NICE & STRAIGHT. AND THERE ARE MORE GREAT THINGS THAT SET THIS CAR APART THAT WE HAVE LISTED ALONG WITH OVER 30 PHOTOS BELOW. SO: IN A NUTSHELL, OVERALL THIS IS A VERY NICE & CLEAN CAR! IT WAS PART OF A PERSONAL COLLECTION & HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR A WHILE. SO WE WOULD SUGGEST A FRESH SERVICE / TUNEUP & OIL CHANGE BEFORE DRIVING IT LONG DISTANCES. FRONT BUMPER COVER HAS A 2" TEAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TOP CORNER THAT IS AN EZ FIX, OTHERWISE AS YOU WOULD EXPECT FOR A CAR OF THIS AGE, THE PAINT JOB HAS CHIPS & BLEMS HERE & THERE BUT OVERALL LOOKS REALLY GOOD FOR IT'S AGE! GETS COMPLIMENTS WHEREVER IT GOES! LOOKS FINE FOR A DAILY DRIVER, BUT YOU WILL WANT TO REPAINT IT IF YOU WISH TO RESTORE IT. MOST IMPORTANTLY, AS WE STATED EARLIER: IT HAS NO RUST PROBLEMS AT ALL ON THE FRAME OR ANYWHERE ELSE! LIKE MOST OF OUR CARS, WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR UP ON A HOIST & LOOKED IT OVER PRETTY THOROUGHLY & IT IS SOLID THROUGHOUT. BODY: HAS SMALL BLEMS HERE & THERE THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT, BUT OVERALL VERY STRAIGHT & CLEAN. GLASS: ALL GLASS IS GOOD NICE SET OF FACTORY 8" "SNOW FLAKE" ALLOY WHEELS WITH A SET OF MATCHING "KELLY CHARGER" WHITE LETTER RADIAL TIRES. FRONT 2 HAVE AT LEAST 70%+ TREAD LIFE LEFT. REAR ARE ABOUT 30-40%. HMMM... =/ I WONDER WHY THAT IS...? HAS ALL 4 WHEEL OPENING FLARES. BEAUTIFUL BODY LINES. ALSO STILL HAS THE FACTORY DUAL CHROME TIPS ON THE EXHAUST. LIGHTS ALL WORK AS THEY SHOULD. REAR SPOILER IN NICE SHAPE. NICE CLEAN REAR BUMPER COVER & TAILLIGHTS. TRUNK LID IS STRAIGHT & CLEAN. QUARTER PANELS ARE BOTH STRAIGHT & SOLID. FACTORY FISHER T-TOPS IN GREAT SHAPE. DASH & GAUGES ARE IN VERY NICE SHAPE. CLEAN & ORIGINAL. NOW HERE'S SOMETHING THAT MAKES IT EVEN RARER!!! MOST OF THESE CARS HAVE CRACKED DASH PADS! NOT THIS ONE! CLEANEST DASH I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS! THE STEERING WHEEL PAD IS WORN AT TOP. YOU CAN PUT A LEATHER WRAP ON IT OR YOU CAN JUST BUY A NEW ONE. THEY ARE SUPER EASY TO REPLACE. CENTER CONSOLE ALSO HAS BEEN DAMAGED AROUND THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH, BUT THESE ARE EASY TO FIND NEW & USED & ARE ALSO VERY EASY TO REPLACE. IF THE BUYER WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THESE THINGS REPLACED BY US, WE CAN ARRANGE THIS FOR THEM AT OUR WHOLESALE COST AS WELL. THE GAUGES LOOK GOOD. SHOWN RUNNING, AT IDLE. 60+ POUNDS OF OIL PRESSURE.
