Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 NO RESERVE, High bidder drives her home 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback SCJ Drag Pack Four Speed, Tilt-away One of One… Not another One like it ever produced!! Marti report states this as “One of One” ever produced (Marti is included). According to the Marti report, this is the ONLY ONE made like this in the 1969 model year, plus tilt away steering. So this makes her a “One of One” plus “One”! She is in unbelievable condition. 53,000 original documented, pampered miles. Always garaged, only out in nice weather. Still has the original build sheet. (Pictured under the carpet) (Afraid I might damage it if I take it out). . Still has the original sticker’s all over. These Q codes were also known as sleepers, because they were stripped of badges and looked non-threatening so you could sneak up on unsuspecting Chevy’s and Mopars and annihilate them! Totally Rust Free all original steel. Her body is perfect. INTERIOR: Interior is near perfect. The dash, headliner and seats are perfect. All the gauges are mint and work perfect, even the clock is mint and works like new. This is the Only Q code ever produced with the Tilt-Away Steering column (works perfectly as new see video). The car has new door panels because the previous owner put speakers in the doors and I replaced the old door panels with OEM replacements. I still have the original door panels that came with her. It also has the original working 8 track tape player with the original Ford Demo 8 track tape! All in excellent working condition pictured in video. Additional Elvis 8 track included! She’s 99% original and has only had minor work to keep and maintain the unusual aspects of the car. ENGINE: It has the original 428 SCJ engine and it is a drag pack car with factory engine oil cooler. The engine was rebuilt to original SCJ specs and runs perfect. Also added the Pertronix Electronic Ignition and coil Yes, it has the original 3.91Traction Loc axle ratio and staggered shocks and 4 Speed close ratio Manuel Transmission. Yes it does hook up just the way Ford designed it to. Emergency brake works excellent. Brakes work excellent. Power front disc brakes. A few things that are not original to the car that I know of are a new after market muffler and I have installed a new battery. I have not driven the car very much lately. She needs to get some fresh fuel ran thru her. EXTERIOR: The paint and body is near perfect, Paint is as smooth as glass and laser straight. Body gaps and lines are perfect. Mirror finish is near perfect, No dings, dents or waves. Yes, this is base coat \ clear coat paint. Yes, its much nicer than the way it rolled off the assembly line. I would rate the paint as a 9 ( Really close to a perfect 10 Show paint). The exterior color of the car is the original Black Jade ford color. I believe that this is also one of the lesser used colors for the 1969 model year. I have tried to cover all the Unique Features of this Sweetheart, and I’m sure there are many more. On Nov-21-11 at 09:09:01 PST, seller added the following information: Getting a lot of Questions about Marti SCJs engines. If you look @ my Marti in the blue box it states this is the only SCJ produced with these options, plus its the only one Kevin Marti has seen with the tilt away. It has all the right stuff.428 Cobra Jet vs. 428 Super Cobra Jet What are the differences? What makes the 428 Super Cobra Jet engine so super? The 428 SCJ was first introduced during the 1969 model year. Mustang buyers who selected either of the optional 3.91:1 or 4.30:1 rear end gear ratios got more than just an optional axle ratio! Ordering either of these axle ratio options commonly triggered a few other upgrades as well, including the 428 Super Cobra Jet engine, an external oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator, and relocation of the driver's side horn to the passenger side of the radiator core support to make room for the oil cooler. Starting in February 1969 this complete package could be ordered as the "Drag Pack" option. Note that it was not thought to be possible to order an SCJ engine by itself -- the only way to get your hands on an SCJ in a Mustang was to order the optional 3.91:1 or 4.30:1 rear end gear ratios. There have been rumors of cars being delivered with SCJ engines and other axle codes, and V- or W-code axles and no SCJ engine. To date I've only seen documentation for one such anomaly: 9R02R103630, built with a W-code 4.30:1 rear axle and a standard CJ engine. According to statistics courtesy of Marti Auto Works and copyrighted, this car was built at the San Jose assembly plant on October 1, 1968. The axle code in the order image is "8" (which means 4.30:1 traction-lok) and the car's data plate has an axle code of "W". However, the Ford production database describes the car as having an S-code 3.50:1 traction-lok rear. The error is described on the owner's Marti report; here's an excerpt. Note that the explanation says that three other cars were built like this at San Jose! Makes you wonder how many were built at the other plants. The basic strength of the Super Cobra Jet engine is in a more durable reciprocating assembly (crank, rods, pistons, flywheel/flexplate, and harmonic balancer) that was designed to withstand the higher RPM requirements of drag racing. For example, the SCJ used race-proven 427 "LeMans" capscrew connecting rods, whereas the standard CJ rod used a more common press-fit bolt and nut to retain the rod cap. The SCJ timing pointer is slightly longer to clear the larger harmonic balancer.
