For those of you seeing this car for the third time, please blame fleabay!! According to them, "" Hello rjwetak (rjwetak@comcast.net), We had to cancel bids for the following buyer because they aren't registered on eBay jameswoffl899"" They canceled my entire ad because this guy is a fraud, why punish me, and all of you honest bidders out there?!?!? I apologize to any and all who have bid previously and I hope that you will consider bidding again and overlook the ignorance of fleabay. For your consideration I have a 1968 Chevrolet caprice 4 door hardtop in butternut yellow color with black vinyl top. If you are looking for an old car to just drive, look no further, you have just found it. this car features a 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet engine. The engine was rebuilt on 2007 and has about 5000 miles on it since then. I have receipts for the work. Engine features hardened valve seats for use with unleaded gasoline. A camshaft a bit more aggressive than the stocker was used and gives the engine lots of low end torque for spirited street performance. The engine accessories such as starter, water pump, fuel pump, carburetor, alternator were all either replaced with new or rebuilt. Includes headman headers and new thrush turbo mufflers for that nice muscle car sound. The engine runs quite well. On a cold morning, you pump the gas once, turn the key and it comes to life and runs on high idle just as it should. Stone cold, you can drop the car into gear and drive away, no babysitting a cold engine that won't run well until it is warmed up. Engine makes nice low end power. If you want, just gas it from a stop and it will lay rubber. Keep it floored and it pulls hard through first gear with the intake howling and the exhaust blaring. Shift second and the TH400 transmission snaps into second gear and you keep on going. Under light throttle in town, the engine purrs peacefully down the road, nice and smooth. The transmission is a TH400 with a 2200 rpm stall converter and a mild shift kit. The trans works flawlessly. The rear differential has 3:31 gears, a nice compromise between cruising and acceleration. The steering and suspension are fresh. The car has 4 new ball joints, new inner and outer tie rod ends, new center link and idler arm. All 4 shock absorbers are new. The master cylinder has been rebuilt along with all 4 wheel cylinders. New brake shoes and hardware all the way around. All four brake drums have been resurfaced. All rubber brake hoses have been replaced. I don't know that I have ever driven an old drum brake car that stops as nice as this one. You hit the pedal and it stops with authority! All fluids in the car have been changed. The body on the car is about 95% rot free. I tried to capture the lower portions of the car so you could see just how clean the body is. There are some light pimples on the bottom of each front fender and I am pretty sure these will be pinholes if you hit them with a grinder. I also suspect that there will be some light pinholes behind the rear tires. There is a hole the size of a dime in the drivers side floor and some light rust on the RH front hinge pillar below the bottom hinge. That is it for rust on this car! The frame, floors and trunk pan are rock solid with no rot or swollen seams, never was rusty, just some good old sheet metal that has survived the years pretty darn well. There is a dent in the drivers front fender. The remainder of the car is basically straight but does have door dings and a few light bumps here and there. The paint is old, likely over 30 years. It is chipped and scratched, you can see this in the pics. The Right rear quarter panel is the worst. The paint has a respectable shine. I guess you could call this a 20 footer. It would be a great auto body project for a beginner as there is no major rot to repair and other than the dented fender, all other flaws are pretty simple repairs. This is a body that an amateur could make look nice in their garage and drive it while working on it, or just drive it the way it is and enjoy! The car has power windows that all work. The drivers window is slower than the rest and will likely need a new motor in the future. All electrical components function properly. I replaced EVERY light bulb on the car, including the 2 dozen bulbs in the instrument cluster housing. All lights work properly. I did not install a radio, I figured I would leave the choice of audio up to the new owner. The carpet is about 10 years old, I removed it from my convertible SS. It is cut for a 2 door so some places along the edges it doesn't fit perfectly. There is also a hole in the top of the tunnel where the shifter would have went through the carpet. This is partially hidden by the seat and is no serious issue. The seats are covered with black bath towels. The rear seat was gone when I got the car so I found a nice replacement but it is green. The front seats have some tears and just look nicer covered up. They are not broke down with your butt falling out the bottom, just need new seat covers. After working on the car for nearly a year, I began driving it in June and it is the only car I have used all summer. It is dependable and fun to drive. If you want into an old car to enjoy or to fix up, this may be just the perfect low buck car you have been looking for. Click the link for dozens of pictures. The car is available for in person inspection and test drives, just contact me to set up an appointment. Feel free to ask and questions and i will do my best to help you out. UPS covers packages up to $100, after that there IS an additional charge. I do not require insurance as some folks do not like the extra cost and others do not like the extra risk. On Nov-04-11 at 07:08:38 PDT, seller added the following information: A few things to add that I forgot to mention. The tires are all good with better than half tread left. The right rear was brand new about 8 weeks ago because I smoked off the old one. The front bumper is straight with nice chrome, an impressive bumper for being 43 years old. The grill is straight with s nice appearance. The chrome headlight bezels and fender extensions do have pitting. About average, maybe a little nicer. All have a nice shine. Speedometer reads incorrect, I have ordered a new gear to replace the existing so I should have this issue addressed by auctions end. Car has factory tinted glass all the way around. Used to have air conditioning so there is a vent hole on the RH dash area. I can look, I believe I have a vent that can fill the hole. It would be nonfunctional but would look better than a hole. The rear end is a 10 bolt without positraction. GM rally wheels, 15 X 8 all the way around. Headliner looks good but does have 2 mouse holes, one above the passenger sun visor. The other is on the drivers side way in the back. The package tray was junk so I used a piece of black vinyl for a makeshift tray. It could use a bit of glue to hold it flat, right now it is just laying there. I left it this way in case somebody wanted to do speakers or something in the back, this way it will be easier. Rear bumper is fair at best, the chrome is pitted and pealing and doesn't shine all that great. If you have any other questions, by all means, ask away!!
