Vehicle Detail
I've had this Healey for over 26 years but due to health problems never did much with it and it's time to let it go. Don't think I ever drove it more than 10 miles total in the whole time I've owned it. It hadn't been started in five or six years when I bought it but after an hour or two of tinkering it roared to life instantly on five plugs after asking my girlfriend to just bump it over so I could check the spark on the one disconnected! It sounded great so I took it out for a quick spin on some really steep and narrow neighborhood roads before one of the front wheels spun off and I slid to a stop on a brake rotor! Some idiot had removed the spindles and put them back on the wrong sides, even though the knock-off hubs are clearly marked "Left" & "Right." Anyway, that's pretty much all the history I have and it's been parked ever since. Back when I had a decent job and times were good I bought nearly everything affordable to restore this car but never used any of them. The parts have been stored away all these years and I'm sure they would cost much more today. It has NEW TIRES w/ tubes (as of last month and Zero Miles), NEW (my old stock) LEATHER UPHOLSTERY KIT, NEW SEAT CUSHIONS and SEAT PANS, NEW CARPET SET, NEW CHROME BUMPERS and much more!!!!! I will be adding more details later but for a quick summary: The engines ran strong when last started, about 24 years ago. The transmission had a clacking noise in first gear but otherwise worked well and the overdrive did not engage. The body is fairly solid and straight but the undercarriage is rough. It will need floor pans, inner and outer rocker panels, bumper stop boxes, frame outriggers and misc. sheet metal work. All parts should be available through Moss Motors or Toms' Imports. Clearly this Healey NEEDS a MAJOR RESTORATION from the ground up so it's being sold AS IS, WHERE IS! Buyer is responsible for pick-up and/or shipping. The title is clear. Buyer must make a down payment of $1,000 via Paypal within three days and the balance of the auction price to be paid IN CASH on pick-up within 14 days unless other arrangements are approved. I will also be including a Haynes, Owner's Workshop MANUAL, spare BRAKE ROTOR and the original steel VALVE COVER (I'm sure you've noticed the nice cast aluminum valve cover I put on decades ago). Please Note: Bidders are encouraged to read all posted questions and answers for details I might have missed. On Nov-12-11 at 20:38:58 PST, seller added the following information: I'm surprised no one has asked but FYI I did turn the engine over last week but had to jump the battery straight to the starter as the button on the dash didn't activate the solenoid. No doubt just a minor connection problem somewhere along the line as it used to crank fine before setting so long.
