Vehicle Detail

1965 International IH Scout 80 TURBO Champagne Series Overdrive & Winch Doll-Up 1965 International Harvester IH Scout 80 Champagne Series Limited Edition equipped with a Potent and durable IH 152T engine, Factory International Harvester Turbo Unit, Overdrive, Winch, Grille Guard, Four-Wheel Drive, Factory Front Steering Stabilizer/Damper, Dana 27 front axle, and Dana 44 4.27 Ratio rear axle with Power-Lock. The Doll-Up Champagne Series Limited Edition Scout was a high-option Scout offered in the Scout 80 and later Scout 800 models '64-'66. This particular one is a High Option Rare Scout and a Highly Collectible vehicle as it also carries a combination of factory options not commonly found in most Champagne Series or in many other Scouts or Utility vehicles. The Scout 80s equipped with Turbo units are extremely rare. This one works/looks great and helps this Binder negotiate the country roads with ease. It does outstanding on highways. I can include service and parts literature on the unit if requested. The Turbo has been professionally rebuilt with new/correct parts. The Scout still shows its original paint (except for a light touch-up in the rear). It still has all of its original moldings, cab and door weather seals still in great condition. The Scout comes with what appears to be one of the original tires (8.45x15 4 Ply Nylon) as its spare tire. All wheel covers are in like new condition. Its Line setting ticket as well as axle engaging instructions and warning/caution stickers still show remarkably well in the glove compartment. Odometer miles are correct at 31,825 (NOT 131,825). This Four-wheel drive Scout 80 with its high torque, four-cylinder IH152T motor is capable of several hundred thousand miles with regular interval oil changes. Scout was one of the first production American civilian off-road sport utility vehicles. This was IH’s fifth year building the revolutionary Scout. International Harvester was not geared up for the production of a four cylinder engine. Consequently, they simply cut off four of the cylinders of their V8 powerhouse and sold the engine as half of the V-304. This is why these engines are in an inline, yet slanted formation, half of a V8. The 152s became small engines with a great deal of torque, excellent cooling because the block contained water ways originally designed for the larger engines. Another example of a fast becoming extinct IH vehicle. Built out of the legacy of the agricultural giant, IH didn't just build quality, but proven damn-near bombproof trucks. Outside of surface rust under the vehicle This is a rust free Scout. It has never had any body work done, no dents/no Bondo. Oil/filters changed regularly. It is equipped with its original oil filter canister housing. Lubrication and fluids: Engine - Rotella 15W40 engine oil, Brakes - Castrol GTLMA Synthetic Brake Fluid, Transmission/transfer case - Mobil 1 15W50 Synthetic . New Carpet (pictures don't show uniformity in the color of the carpet. It is new and the color is good and uniform). The top needs to be popped up. It has light caving from the top. The Scout has its original Cardboard Headliner (needs to be re-glued and/or reconditioned due to lost adhesion to the top and age). The Scout is equipped with like new IH vacuum wiper motors. They work flawlessly. Vacuum in this vehicle is powerful enough to drive the wipers under heavy rain at highway speeds or under heavy engine loads. This great Four-Wheel drive Scout can be put to good use for several hundred thousand miles as a daily driver (capable of sustained 70+ MPH on highways) or just nicely shown off at a dealer, a business, car shows, or parades. Exhaust is propelled out of the vehicle through quality/quiet muffler and 2 1/2 inch exhaust pipe. Fuel reaches the carburetor very well filtered from either one of its dual 11 gal. fuel tanks. Fuel also flows through a standard fuel filter and then reaches a remote water/fuel filter separator before reaching the carburetor ensuring delivery of clean and water-free fuel to the engine. Also equipped with a fuel pressure gauge. Passenger side Fuel tank has been replaced with a Polyethylene tank. Ignition system: MSD 6 Ignition control, MSD Black high voltage Blaster coil, MSD 40-50 ohm/ft resistance 8.5 mm Black Super Conductor spark plug wires, Pertronix stealth solid-state electronic ignition system (Ignitor), stock distributor, Iridium spark plugs. Gauges work great. New gorgeous and color matching retro/vintage style Tachometer and Voltage meter gauges installed. Also equipped with AM-FM IH Radio. Looks and works Great!! This vehicle is titled in Washington State as a classic vehicle. New (reconditioned) period correct 1963-65 “WASH” vehicle license plate shown on the Scout is available for sale. Its original California Black License Plate is also available. Floor has been treated extensively with Second Skin products to minimize unwanted noise/sound/vibration and heat. New Scout 80 molded carpet installed (less than 100 miles on it). This Scout has been in the family for over 12 years and has been garaged (insulated) and maintained. It has been driven less than 100 miles per year for the last 12 years. Originally sold to a dealer in California where it stayed for approximately 30 years. Vehicle can be stored in current location (garaged-insulated) for up to 2 weeks from end of auction. Sale is final at auction end.
