Vehicle Detail
Offered for Sale is a 1952 MGTD. The “TD” series was manufactured from 1949-53. The “TD” was imported to the US as a left hand drive only. This series was designed for the American market with higher cruising speeds and better handling than the previous “TC”. Improvements such as disc wheels, better brakes, a different engine, suspension, and running gear, all make the “TD” a better driver. This vehicle was manufactured in Abingdon in Feb. 1952 as a TD2. The serial # is TD13868. The prior owner had this car for almost 30 years. The current mileage indicates 77,657. I cannot verify if this is correct. The previous owner put about 25,000 miles on the car since 1985. He recently spent $3500.00 getting the brakes, fuel system, and engine serviced. I am trying to get the receipts for this work. The car runs great with no issues. The car is finished in the original “MG Red”. The paint is good driver quality and still has a good gloss. The paint is checked and touched up in several places. The body is solid with good wood. The metal body is good with no rust issues. The interior is excellent. This interior was replaced approx. 30 years ago and is in excellent shape. There is a small tear in the drivers seat cushion about 1”. The door panels are like new. The gauges all work and also have this wonderful patina. The top and side curtains are in very good shape. As you can see from the pictures the window plastic in the side curtains looks new. The top rear window is not as good as the side curtains, but still very good. This car would make someone a wonderful “driver” to take to car shows and cruise-ins. Although the interior is not the original, this car could be thought of as a “survivor”. It has not been over-restored or modified. If you want to enjoy the nostalgia and mystique of driving a 60 year old imported car, this car might work for you. If so, good luck bidding! I have made every effort to describe this vehicle accurately. I encourage inspections, and will try to accommodate most request. We have a lift and I will be glad to show the car by appointment.
