Vehicle Detail

Own a piece of racing history---- This is a 1968 Camaro factory 375 H.P.car L-78. Hopefully this car will go into someones racing museum, it is a three time national record holder in 1974. The car was driven on the street from 1968-1971 for a total of 7,100 miles then turned into a race car. This is probably one of the lowest if not the lowest 68 Camaro 375 H.P. car in the world. This car is very well documented I have the original window sticker, broadcast sheet, payment book, key holder from University chev. dealership in Seattle Wa. protect-O-plate still in the 68 Camaro owners manual, and original title. The paint on the car is 80% factory the hood and deck-lid have been repainted, only interior part not factory is the carpet. Underside of the car is like the top of the car very clean. I bought the car in 1999 from the original owner a good friend of mine I was involved in the drag racing with them in the early 70's. The car was built at the LA plant Dec. of 1967, he took delivery on the car Jan. 20,1968 The race car now has a 1966 4 bolt main block 60 over 1969 842 alum. heads original intake and carb. 4053 are on the engine a L88 cam with solid lifters, it was raced with a ZL-1 cam. I would say most parts in the engine are GM also has a 6 quart oil pan,.original 4 speed transmission is back in the car M-21 220 low gear. The12 bolt possi rear end is also original the car was ordered with 456 gears at a cost of $42.15 notice in one of the pics. the pink axle markings these are new from GM whenever they broke parts the owner would go to GM and buy new ones, they sat under his bed for 35 years or so. The coolest thing I have for the car is all 5 factory painted car color steel wheels dog dish hubcaps and the Uniroyal tiger paw red line tires, spare has never been on the car these were re-moved from the car after a couple hundred miles, some probably have 1967 air in them, how hard would it be to find these, could be the only last set left in the country. Now if you don't want a race car and want to put it back to stock condition, the car also comes with a 67 Sept. 26th MQ four bolt main stock bore block original pistons, dimple rods, stock 375H.P. cam and lifters no rust or pitting lifters were marked when taken out factory steel crank factory flywheel (needs ring gear) match date set of rectangular port #3919840 H-24-7 Aug. 24 67 bare heads, both exhaust manifolds L-2-7 and L-4-7 water pump L-8-7 and distributor #1111170 7-L-8 alum. bell housing #3872444 starter #1107365 7-L-30 are on the race engine. Forgot, the car has the factory exhaust system and hangers from the headers to the tailpipes very good condition for the years, except a replacement muffler from Midas. This is one crazy bad sounding engine, don't like your neighbors fire this bad boy up. You will probably have some questions so e-mail me at (sawman56@gmail.com) Thanks for looking. On Oct-28-11 at 11:08:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I do appreciate all the e-mails I have received, my purpose of giving out my e-mail was to answer any question about the car and extra parts. I have a contract with e-bay to help with the sell of the car, and I plan on honoring that. I do not plan on closing the auction early, many have asked the question what is the reserve price, or how much do you what for the car, what is the rock bottom you would take for the car, if I receive these questions I will not answer back, the reserve is set at a fair price for the car and extra parts, I have also been asked if I would sell a certain part like the alum. heads the answer is no. All of the race parts for the car are part of the history, most of the other parts came on the car from the factory. I also need to add a couple other parts that go with the car I have the factory muncie 4 speed complete handle linkage and brackets that mounts to the crossmember this was removed after a few hundred miles so it is very nice, also this car was built in LA so it came with a smog pump I have almost all the parts for that as well. Where are you ever going to find a rust free 68 Camaro with 7,17 5 original miles. Happy bidding thanks again
