For sale is a vehicle that has been special to me. I purchased it new in 1999 from Gillman Mitsubishi in Austin, Texas, it has been garage-kept and pampered ever since, and has always been in possession, used by me. It has consistently been fueled with supreme, has had frequent oil changes, has never been smoked in, and usually hand washed (has been through a contact car wash maybe twice in its life). Complete service records will accompany it to its new owner. While it has some expected wear in the expected places for a car its age, it is also in very good shape, and is a sharp vehicle, inside and out. I also have a recent CarFax report on the car; please message me and I will be glad to send it to you. Included in the pictures is an image of the clear Texas title. (I note the free eBay AutoCheck report has flagged a possible lien, and this is an error. The title is clear, with the lien being released by my credit union in October of 2005--see photo.) Exterior This red gem is "Sanora Red" (per Mitsubishi's dealer information), and features special-edition Mitsubishi original chrome wheels, a fully operating electric sliding sun roof, and a black nose mask. The chrome wheels feature wheel locks (special lug nut lock included). The tires have all been replaced within the last 12 months and are in very good shape (the car has been driven a lot less this past year, which has put little wear on the tires). The hood features the characteristic "bump" design feature common on many 1990-1999 Eclipse models. The nose mask (also Mitsubishi original, not an aftermarket product) was replaced within the last 18 months, as were the gas lifts in the back hatch. The nose mask has a few scraped places along the lower front edge (where it has done its job, obviously). There is no visible rust that I can find on the body, and everything is structurally sound. The front headlamps, turn indicators, and brake lights all work, and the front headlamp lenses are clear. The rear tailpipe is a special broader chrome pipe (but does not create annoying extra sound). There are no cracks in any of the windows, and no significant dings. Side mirrors are electric and work fine. Wipers (front and rear) work, including the front wiper fluid sprayers. The pinstripes down each side are still strong and do not show peeling or fading. The electric antennae functions well. There are factory mud flaps on both front and rear tire wells (see photos). The paint still exhibits a lot of shine, although there are some scratches evident when one looks closely. There is also a small (1 1/2 inch or so in diameter) "dimple"-type dent on the front driver's side fender (see photo). It is easy to imagine this can be easily repaired if it is bothersome, I just have not done it yet. As might be found on most used cars, on each side of the body, there are some very small dings in the paint from other drivers banging their car doors against the vehicle; I have tried to keep these touched up with touch-up paint. Interior The leather interior is a very nice medium charcoal gray; the dash and other panels are a combination of black and charcoal grey. The carpeting is a nice gray, and the floor mats are a darker gray (the floor mats were replaced in the last 18 months with Mitsubishi originals--see photos). All instrumentation works fine, with little appearance of wear or scratches (on knobs, panel surfaces, and so on). The air conditioner/heater are both very solid and work as they should. There are driver and passenger vanity mirrors; driver side is a small add-on but the passenger side is a factory illuminated mirror built into the visor. The car has cruise control. The stereo is a CD/cassette/radio combo (dealer said it was manufactured by Infiniti, but I have never confirmed this), and all work fine; the speakers are good except one has started to exhibit a rattle when the bass is raised. The windows and door locks are electric and all function. There are no cracks in the door panels, front panel or the dashboard (always used a windshield sunscreen when it was parked in the sun). Steering wheel and main instrument panel are in very good condition. The seats do not have any holes or tears. The driver's seat has a nice lumbar adjustment. The leather has started to crack a bit on the side panel of the driver's seat (side facing door), about half way down. Seat belts are all accounted for, front and rear, and all function properly. The vehicle features driver and passenger-side airbags. The back hatch features an expandable mesh hammock organizer, and the original spare and jack equipment are included. Some years ago, during a very nasty storm, water entered the hatch (which had not been fully shut), and this was not discovered for some days. (It was promptly and thoroughly cleaned, and did not affect anything else in the car, including the hatch bottom panel, which is carpeted.) The moisture caused a bit of corrosion to the spare tire mount, but it is largely cosmetic and does not affect storing the spare (see picture of back hatch without spare). The interior side windows feature factory installed tinting (a light tint, not too dark), as does the back hatch; the back hatch tint has started to show some minor bubbling and a little rippling in the corners, but is not unsightly. Engine / Brakes / Mileage The engine, transmission and radiator are in very good shape (please see photos), and do not demonstrate any rattles, smoking or other problems. The brakes are sound, with adequate shoe remaining. I feel that this little car has always gotten good mileage. I have gauged the mileage to be between 24 and 28 MPG, but this is my informal account. It does not "use oil," nor does it smoke. Please note that the odometer read 85703 upon listing; there may be incidental driving until car is transferred to buyer, thus the odometer mileage may be slightly higher on delivery. Overall Performance This car has served me exceptionally well. It has never "broken down" and left me stranded, and I have enjoyed driving it immensely. It has never been "abused" (no rough acceleration, racing or anything else akin to that) and has rewarded me with years of great service. I have tried to explain high points and cosmetic issues to my best ability and estimation, but by no means is the description meant to be exhaustive; it is a reasonable, general overview. Buyer Pickup / Shipping / Transport Successful bidder is responsible for either picking up the car or otherwise arranging for delivery, and is responsible for all associated costs and insurance during transport. If someone else or a transport company will be retrieving the car, buyer must provide clear and explicit details regarding "who, what, when & where" to ensure the vehicle is released to the legitimate party. The picking up or shipping process will be thoroughly documented for the benefit of all.
