Vehicle Detail
I built this truck based on a Ranchero that was raced here in the southwest back in the 60's. A Ford racer named James (Jim) Butler of Morton Texas raced his 289 CI powered truck and as I understand was never beaten. I saw the truck as a kid and I have always wanted to build one like Mr. Butlers. My truck has a mild 393 stroker, C-4 and a 8" Ford rearend. The stroker is 9.5 compression, procomp 210 heads, intake, ignition. Has a summit racing 750 carb and a mild Lunati hydraulic flat tappet cam, 1.7 roller rockers and stud girdle. The transmission is a full manual c-4 forward shift pattern. Rear-end is 8 inch ford with mini spool and 4.11 gears, Moser axles, I have a complete 8 inch third member with 4.62 gears that will go with the truck. I built the truck myself and I am not a professional builder but the car goes down the track straight, the front supension is a kit from Speedway and has disc brakes up front and drum in the rear, The truck has been run at local tracks and mostly at test and tune sessions. The truck runs in the 12's and low 8's at 4000 feet. The over all condition of the truck is good as you can tell from the photos, but does have dings, scratches, and a cracked drivers window. I have the title for the truck and it could be made street legal with lights and exhaust. If you would like to see a video of the truck on the track go to You Tube and search for Raunchy Ranchero and it will be one of the first to come up. The quality is not real good but it will give a look at the truck in action. I require a $1,000.00 non refundable deposit through pay pal and if you have a feed back score less that 15 or any negative feedback, email me before you bid, if you don't I will cancel the bid. This is a no reserve auction with a starting bid of $2500.00On Oct-27-11 at 11:47:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been getting a lot of questions about the truck. I will try to answer them with this revision. Yes it is a 1962, I just liked the look of the 1963 grill better. I have the 62 grill and it will go with the truck. The wheel base is stock not altered, the look is from the way I grafted in the arch sections from a pair of spare front fenders that I had. The front and rear wheel openings match. The rear bumper was made from the top of the remaining top parts of the front fenders and is something I made and is not original by any means. I do not have the original bumpers or brackets. It does have a line lock and alternator and the only lights that work is the right front head light and the right rear tail light. The water pump is an electric belt driven like they would have had back in the day. It has an aluminum radiator and electric fan. The rear glass is lexan The rear tires are Hoosier 29x11x15 and all wheels a Cragar. The fronts a 15x4 4.5 bolt pattern the rear are 15x8 x 4.5 The steering is vega with Speedway wheel and column. I think this covers most of the questions so far, thank you for you interest in my little truck it is a lot of fun and a real cool hotrod. If you have any other questions please let me know. Dan
