Vehicle Detail

I am listing this car for a friend. I have taken the time to look at the car and give it a proper test drive, so that I am able to describe the condition of this Cadillac thoroughly and accurately. Please look at all of the pictures and read the full description before you bid. If you have any questions, please ask, I will be happy to answer you as quickly as I can. Since this car does belong to a friend of mine, it is located in his garage in Chestnut Ridge NY 10977. If you would like to see the car and drive it, please let me know and I will do my best to arrange it. Please note that I will make every effort to tell you the good and the bad about this sixty year old classic Cadillac. If you have a question, you should ask before bidding. If you would like to speak to me, my name is Bill and I can be reached at 201 954 3159. This is truly a beautiful car! The body is straight and solid, the chrome looks good, the glass is good with no cracks, the interior is good, but has a few flaws that I will describe in detail, It runs and drives fairly well, but has a few ussues. The paint is black and shows nicely with minor imperfections. The floors and the chassis appear solid. This car was stripped to metal and refinished in quality paint back in 1991. At the same time, the engine was rebuilt and new tires were installed. This is a true two owner car with only 54,954 original miles. First purchased new by the current owner's uncle and subsequently passed on to the current owner many years ago. It is obvious that this beautiful car has been loved and cared for it's whole life. The car shows well, with paint that still shines with a deep luster. The chrome appears original and still shows brilliantly, with no rust, or damage. Under the hood looks good. The floors feel solid. The trunk is solid. The exhaust system still sounds relatively quiet too! The car drives fairly wsell and the transmission shifts properly.Generally, the car can probably be driven, shown and enjoyed like it is, but there are a few flaws and I want to tell you about them, so please keep reading. In spite of everything I have told you that is good, there are flaws, so let me tell you those too. There are a few scratches and minor imperfections on the paint, but they are not very noticeable at all. The front fender on the driver side of the car does not line up as well as it should. I asked the owner whether the car had been in an accident, but he told me that he did not think it was. So, I don't know why, but it is about an inch, or so off. The interior is fairly nice, however, there is a rip on the back of the front seat where the driver sits "see picture" The carpet probably needs replacing, as it is stained by hydraulic fluid "see pictures" The trunk mat needs replacing, as it is also stained "see picture" but the cause is unknown. Although the engine was rebuilt and has not had too many miles put on it since, it is noisey. It has a lifter tap for sure, but it is difficult to say whether that is the only noise, or not. The power of the car is pretty good on the road and the noise did not get worse when the engine was fully warmed up. I think a new set of lifters might take care of the noise. The carburator needs rebuilding, it runs rough when cold, it gets better as it warms up, but it hesitates periodically. The power steering is not working properly, it feels like manual steering, because perhaps the power steering pump is bad. The power windows do not work, at all. There is a slight banging sound in the front end, especially when you go over a bump in the road. And when you turn the steering wheel all the way on a very sharp turn, something rubs. The radio and the clock do not work either. The current owner has decided to let his Cadillac go to a new home. He is now in his seventies and is letting go of some cars and things he has owned for a long time. Please understand that in spite of the flaws I have described, this car was loved and not abused. I guess many of us will one day reach the point where we neither have the desire, the interest, or the strength to keep up with the maintenance of a sixty year old car. This car is priced fairly and it will be a wonderful opportunity to own a truly classy Cadillac. Looking at this car makes it easy to understand that in it's day, this car really was as they say "The standard of the world." This car will be sold AS-IS, Where-Is, with NO warranties expressed, or implied. Bid with confidence. Please read my feedback. Please ask any questions you may have before you bid. I have described this car as thoroughly as I can, but your opinion may be different than mine, so we invite you to see and drive the car before you bid. Thank you for taking the time to read my rambling. Good luck and have fun bidding!
