I will start by saying, I adore this car and were it not just sitting now in the garage, it would not be for sale. At 183,000 miles the engine block cracked - (shocking to me, but more importantly, to my mechanic and Service Manager of the local Toyota dealership). The engine was replaced with a rebuilt engine (Toyota) with 100k miles on it. So, the mileage is more like 134,000. The full bill was around $10,000 for the work done on it and since then, this car has not had a single problem. (It was under the advisement of the local Toyota dealership's Service Manager that we invested that much into the car. "They always last at least 300,000 miles... it is well worth it." And, I intended on keeping it forever.) Aside from the fluke with the engine, this car is absolutely wonderful and has never ever been a problem. The only other change I made to the car is to get rid of the gold icon/name and replace them with black ones. Now.. is the car perfect? No. But, for the reserve price, you will not find a more reliable car that has been garaged its whole life. Everything works. The tires have substantial life left on them. Finally, according to a Toyota dealer in the mid-west, the 1999 year was one of the best for the Land Cruiser because Toyota went all out on top quality for this car. The car is located in Jersey City (apartment building's indoor garage) where it just moved to from Chester, NJ - so most of its life has been spent in the country. I totally forgot about a run in with a residential wood post/mail box (which is the accident you see in that vehical report). The front bumper (replaced) was damaged and rather than risk driving it (on a black ice day) down the mountain, we had it towed. Absolutely nothing was wrong with the frame or anything substantial - I can't say the same for the mail box, however. Suffice it to say, the local volunteer fire department was quite thrilled to have an excuse to get all dressed up and drive the fire truck with all the bells and whistles going... according to the police man I was standing next to when they showed up. Again, I can not stress enough that every action with this car was undertaken with the full intent to keep it for the long run.
