Audio Player Copyright 2009 Ver2.04 You are bidding on a low mile, one owner 1966 Dodge Polara Four-Door Sedan – an un-restored, un-refurbished 100% original, 100% correct, cosmetically and mechanically sound machine that is a nice survivor from Chrysler Corporation’s mid-sixties full-size line. This vintage Polara, showing just 72,900 odometer miles which are believed to be original, reposed in my Dad’s warehouse until a few weeks ago when I decided to get it out, clean it, fire it up and put it in first rate mechanical condition. It starts right up without hesitation and runs practically as good today as it did new. You can buy and drive with confidence – and it has that genuine top-of-the line Chrysler-Dodge ride and drive from the go-go 1960's. It still has all of its original factory features, inside and out, right down to its hubcaps and door sills – its big block 383 cubic inch V-8 engine with 270 HP, 3 speed automatic transmission, its factory AM pushbutton radio, Chrysler Airtemp air conditioning that works wonderfully, factory-original interior in excellent condition, and acres and acres of shiny chrome and stainless brightwork . It is a special machine – an impressive, appreciating collectible that would be of interest to any Chrysler-Dodge group enthusiast – fully functional with many years of appreciation ahead of it. Historically, this vintage Dodge Polara was purchased originally in October, 1966 in Meridian, Mississippi and remained with its original owner until my Dad bought it for his collection of Mopar classics. Dad tucked it away in his warehouse in Meridian where it has been safely at rest for the past decade. We have brought it to life once again to take a new custodian forward to enjoy the vintage motoring excitement of the Chrysler-Dodge full-size line. Mechanically, the drivetrain and all other mechanical and electrical systems have been inspected, adjusted and are in good working order. You can hop right in, turn the key and go down the road confidently. It has its original 383 cubic inch engine – 2 bbl carburetor – (270 bhp) and it still has its stock exhaust system. It cranks right up and sounds smooth as silk. The brake system has been inspected, new brake pads installed, lines flushed and all components including emergency brake have been adjusted. Here is a summary of recent work performed: Fresh oil New plugs New points. Timing adjusted. Brake system inspected and adjusted - pads replaced. New 12 volt battery. New alternator. New water pump. New belts. New hoses. New coolant. Carburetor cleaned and adjusted. Fuel tank removed, cleaned and re-sealed. A/C system fully charged with Freon. New 205/14 Hancook radial whitewalls (4 total). All interior and exterior lights are in working order. All dash gauges including gas gauge work properly. Exterior-wise, this vintage Dodge Polara still has its original factory applied Dark Turquoise paintwork on the interior door jambs but has had one re-spray on its exterior. No evidence of any body work or collision damage. The exterior paint is oxidized on the driver’s side rear trunk area, but I had the car professionally detailed, buffed and waxed and I was amazed at the degree of brilliance that lurked beneath the surface (see photo on slide show). There are several dings on the side of the car but they do not detract from the classic beauty of this machine. The enormous amount of stainless and chrome – the bumpers, the grille, the window trim, the side moldings, the door handles, the ornaments, the headlight bezels – it is all present, 100% original and complete, still outstanding despite the passage of five and one half decades. Interior-wise, you will find the original cloth upholstery, including the original seat cushions and original sunvisors. There is a tear in the front seat and on the top of the rear seat back by the package tray but the balance of the interior is in very good shape. The interior door panels and arm rests are in excellent condition. The original headliner is in superior condition with no rips or tears. Working windshield wipers and horn. All glass appears to be original. All vent wings open, close and lock properly. All doors including hood and trunk doors open, close and lock properly.
