Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1965 Mustang 2+2 Fastback. It is a factory 289 2V 3spd stick w/ non power disc brakes, a T/lock rear and Special Suspension. The original color was Silver Blue Poly. The original interior was blue. This car has always been garage kept it's entire life. As a result, it has ZERO rust. The floors under the original carpet still have shiny silver blue paint and look like new. I have the original window sticker, the original owners manual, the original plastic warranty card, and a 3 ring binder of receipts and records for the car from day one. It is a true survivor. The car is currently running and driving. I ran it to the local cruise in all summer long. It will need brake work but nothing major. It has brand new tires, and gas tank. It has a new front bumper and guards, and a new outside mirror. It comes with a new rear bumper w/ bolts, gas cap, tail lights w/ lenses, back up lamps, and front parking lamps. At that point, the only chrome left to replace is the door handles and the trunk key hole. It also comes w/ a new headliner, dash pad, dash repair panel ( from where the radio opening was cut ), mint horn ring, rear view mirror, and several used pare parts for the inside. It also comes w/ a good W.S. ( original is cracked )... and yes, this car still has the original glass that has never been pulled. The rubber seals are great proof of the fact that the car has always been garaged. So is the condition of the cowl. It is mint. The car will need to be restored but they don't get any easier than this one! Minor interior work and a paint job are the major issues. Mechanically, the engine is strong. Has never used any oil or antifreeze and the oil is still clean as could be since when I changed it in the Spring. The clutch is fine and the 3 spd transmission shifts great. The traction lock rear will spin both rear tires. The front end feels fine, but it is a 40+ year old car. Again, if you are looking for an easy car to restore, this is it. I will not disclose the reserve. I am not interested in any trades. I am selling this one to help pay for the work needed on my 67 Fastback, which I have had for several years. There are 3+ pages of pictures at the following link. You will have to highlight the link, copy it, and paste it into your browser. Many of the pictures have comments to help you understand what you are looking at... http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/tattarat/65%20FB/ Shipping / transport will be the responsibility of the winning bidder. I can assist with loading. If this car does not sell, this is a one time run on the auction. I will NOT be re-posting it and I will go ahead and make it my winter project and push the 67 back another year. Thanks for looking. Happy bidding. On Oct-06-11 at 19:06:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few questions so I will add this info. Door data tag info is as follows: VIN 5F09C 5 = 1965 F = Dearborn Plant 09 = Fastback C = 289 2V V8 engine Body 63A = Fastback w/ Standard Interior Color Y = Silver Blue Trim 22 = Medium Blue Crinkle all vinyl Date 27Q = March 27th DSO 31 = Cincinnati Axle F = 2:80 Limited Slip Trans 1 = 3 spd manual I was also asked about dents. There are 3 dents on the car. I have added pictures to the web page. The left front fender is the worst and it is very repairable. I do my own body work but I also had 3 other guys look at it and we all agreed we would rather straighten this original piece than to have a repop on the car. The right 1/4 panel has some minor scratches that include a divit that will need to be filled. Again, very minor. The right door has a door ding. Very easy fix. Both doors have had holes cut for aftermarket rear view mirrors. I would recommend welding those holes. The hood is not the original and came with the car when I bought it. It is an excellent hood. Zero rust. The bottom is painted yellow and it has 3 very small dings in the front middle ( like hand marks from someone slamming the hood. Minor and an easy fix. The snorkle is now re-attached to the air cleaner and is included. I have the original valve covers as well. I did not paint the engine, or I would have painted it the correct black and gold. The engine tag is present and attached to the intake manifold. The car had an aftermarket air conditioner installed in 1966. The unit is with the car, but I do not know the condition. The lines are still in place and come through the floor. Personally, I would upgrade to a new Sanden style unit that looks OEM... The larger fan blade and fan clutch are currently in the car. The original 4 blade fan is included. The exhaust manifolds were soda blasted and look new. The exhaust is an original transverse muffler single system which began leaking about a month ago. Sounds like time for duals to me 0:) The Original window sticker reads as follows; Mustang 2plus2 Fastback Silver Blue Base 289 2V V8 Engine Accent Group Limited Slip Differential Back Up Lights Disc Brakes Front Radio AM Deluxe Belt & Tint Glass Visibility Group Wh Covers Knockoff Hubs Special Handling Package Again, I have added some more pictures to the web page so you may want to re-visit. Any questions, just ask... except what is my reserve and will I end the auction early, 'cuz the answer is no. The car IS NOT advertised locally and will not be sold unless reserve is met. I do not HAVE to sell this car and I know what an easy build it is, so it will not bother me to keep it. I would just rather be working on my 67 and cannot do both. Thanks again.
