Page Item Description My 1995 Range Rover LWB A Range Rover Classic Heritage Review If you are like me and you LOVE the style, performance, capability and legacy of the Range Rover Classic, then you will no doubt appreciate my personal vehicle which has all of the distinction you could ever ask for with one of these. As a collector, my journey with this vehicle began with the selection of the one year only 1995 LWB edition and the refinements kept going from there! Overall: This vehicle is an absolute pleasure to drive and everything works great; it is confident, powerful and reliable – PERIOD. As I have mentioned, I have spent a great amount of time and money (over $30K in upgrades) sourcing my favorite pieces from the 25 years of production for the Range Rover Classic. I can’t wait to drive it every day and it’s going to be rough to see its tail-lights pull out of the drive-way…. Being a 95 LWB it starts with having all of the newest refinements that Land Rover could provide while maintaining the exterior look that rolled out of England in 1970. It has the advanced ABS system with traction control, dual airbags, dual climate control (ice cold ac and blazing heat) AND dual driver seat memory. It has plenty of room for the kids too with the 8 extra inches of rear passenger space and the newly installed factory radio set up provides a premium audio experience over long trips which make everybody very happy! This gal is as new-feeling as you probably can get from the last year of this amazing vehicle. It has lived its entire life in the South-West which makes it a RUST-FREE/LEAK FREE vehicle as it has been sheltered from the elements that the rest of the country endures. Aesthetics: As you have no doubt seen from the pictures, this is where I have had great time creating the look and feel of all my favorite years of the Range Rover Classic wrapped into one! You’ve noticed the color I’m sure – Arles Blue. This is a color which harkens back to the early days of production and was reintroduced only to NAS Defender models. I have brought it back to life on my Range Rover which makes it truly one of a kind. The paint job was thorough 3 stage process making it completely smooth and mirror finished from hood to door jambs, body panels and hidden trim pieces. On the road, she’s a head turner; out in country the vivid color makes it striking against any terrain. On top of that, I have sourced an amazing set of 5 TWR wheels which were on special edition 94 and 95 Range Rover’s. They sport a NEW set of BFG all-terrain tires so you’re ready for whatever comes at you while maintaining a quiet ride on the road. Another rare option that I found for this was the GENUINE roof-rack system for the Range Rover Classic. It has an ultra low profile while being incredibly strong. The sharp eyed among you may also notice the Range Rover badge-work fitted to the hood cowl. These were available only through early years of production and I sourced this time-warp set from a collector who had them new in the box from AUSTRALIA! I have completed the sophisticated expedition look with a BRAND NEW ARB front bumper as well as a BRAND NEW Columbia steel rear bumper with recovery points. This set-up ensures your safety on the trail but will also be welcomed should you ever need it in parts of the country with frequent highway animal crossings or the unfortunate rainy day. These bumpers make all the difference from sometimes losing your Range Rover and just being able to start it back up and drive safely home… The interior is no less detailed!!! I was lucky enough to source an entire 25th Anniversary Edition interior from a gorgeous donor truck totaled in a rear end collision. The leather color is Ash Black, an option found only years later in Range Rover P38 models. The seating surfaces are clean and soft and the 25th Anniversary Embossed Headrests are still clear and prominent. The carpet is clean and virtually wear free. All of the wood has been restored to that impeccable factory finish from Madera Concepts (www.maderaconcepts.com) with REAL burled wood – not the cheap press on veneer kits!!! I’ve also just installed a BRAND-NEW headliner which rounds out the fit and finish to create a comfortable, clean and unique driving experience. All load space articles are clean, sturdy and accounted for including a custom tire cover which accommodates the full sized spare with TWR wheel. Engineering and Performance: Most of you know about the performance gained with the 4.2L V8 found in the LWB models… some of you know about the benefits of adding a 4.6L conversion… BEYOND THAT I’m pleased to tell all of you that the 4.6 installed in this truck comes from RPI engineering (www.v8engines.com) in England with custom cam, gears, valves and lifters which produces tremendous power when you need it most! Acceleration is effortless so whether you’re getting onto the highway or negotiating severe conditions, you have the power that you need at your command. The original 4.2 ECU has been re-chipped with another RPI innovation: The Tornado Power Chip which re-maps the fuel system with increased performance while satisfying original engine management conditions meaning: no check engine lights just because you’ve achieved better performance!!! With just shy of 60K miles on the motor, I’ve gone ahead and done the factory recommended head-gasket repair right on schedule as a way to ensure long term performance and reliability. NEW manifolds have been fitted as well as NEW high-flow Magnaflow catalytic converters and a NEW NRP exhaust system to unleash all of that power without any tics or rattles from the tired original exhaust. A NEW interstate battery and NEW MAGNACORE wires have been fitted for additional spark transmission and the oil has always been changed with Mobil 1 synthetic (in fact, it was JUST changed so you needn’t worry about that either)! If all that isn’t enough, I’ve also had the gear-box rebuilt by a ZF transmission specialist who services all of the transmission work for the legendary BMW of Beverly Hills. Despite this truck having 163k miles on the clock, its drive-train life has essentially been returned to zero and shifting is achieved with none of the typical lurching or shudders on original units! The impressive stance and handling on this truck are made possible by newly installed BILSTEIN shock absorbers, BIG BLUE springs and a NEW TERRA-FIRMA steering damper. Additional handling and control has been brought back to factory spec with NEW tie rod ends as well as a NEWLY REBUILT steering box with NEW HOSES. You won’t find any highway wandering on this gal!!! Recap: I can, as you can see, go on and on about this truck! I have identified just about all of the facts regarding improvements made but I am happy to answer any questions that you may have as well.
