I purchased this 2006 Triumph Rocket III Classic to ride across America (solo) for charity. If you want to get inspired, watch www.jimmaclaren.com (Jim's story is told in 4 minutes...awesome courage. He was hit twice, once by a NYC bus (lost his leg) while riding his motrocycle (at 22) and once by a van 8 years later (when competing in a triathalon)... he became a quadrapeligic. Jim died last year, some 20 years after the last accident. I raised over $25,000 for Jim's Choose Living organization (now, Challenged Athletes). So, I took off West of the Golden Gate Bridge on September 1st, drove 4,000 miles to Rockport, MA throu 12 states, over 12 days and 39 Starbucks. Heads turned at every stop. Even Harley guys were envious of this machine. Raw power. 140 horses, screaming! I am an IBM sales consutlant (since 1979). It is not in my fabric to misrepresent. I take excellent care of my assets. This bike has lived in the Sacramento, CA area for 5 years. Garaged 90% of the time. Trips to Lake Tahoe, up and down the California coast. This bike has every option*, including GPS. I have over $23,000 invested in this machine (accessories, sales tax, and license). it has purred for nearly 16,000 miles. it has been maintained to perfection. Tires are less then 4,000 miles. Everything works, perfectly. Look, carefully, at every picture. She has no dents, never been in an accident, and never dumped. Excellent mechancial condition. New brake pads, too! If the bike sells for more then $10,000, the buyer will receive an original pair of Marilyn Monroe sunglasses. I purchased these for investment in an eBay transaction 8 years ago. They come with a history of ownership (after MM) and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). I paid $2,000.00. They are white, made in Italy and have rhinestones on the outer tips. Pictures forthcoming. On the left ear stem (inside) is imprinted "Made in Italy". The COA is signed by Elaine Barrymore, one of MM's best and trusted friends. Mrs. Barrymore was married to John Barrymore (of the same acting family as Drew Barrymore). History...while divorcing playwright Arthur Miller, Marilyn fearing theft at her home, entrusted Elaine Barrymore with her studio wardrobe trunks. Marilyn died on August 5th, 1962. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of her death. These sunglasses could be worth 2-5 times their original value. One famous owner of these sunglasses was Ceasar Vasallo, who painted beautiful oils of Marilyn Monroe (see ceasarsart.com). Per Rosalyn Herman, celebrated collector and purveyor of authentic apparel and accessories, "Marilyn bought all manner of shades and was gifted all price ranges...she did not care about high quality items or so much in designer pieces. She bought what appealed to her at the moment". I believe I am the fourth owner of these nearly 50 year old sunglasses. If you are able to find a picture of her wearing these very sunglasses their worth could go by 5-10x (per a collector in Los Angeles).
