I am relisting this chevy as the winning bidder from the last auction never contacted me, only bid if you are SERIOUS about buying this car! 1940 Chevy! I bought this chevy from the previous owner that had driven it in original stock condition until 2006. At that time he elected to turn it into a hot rod. In 2007 he started by taking off the front bumper, put mag wheels on, and was going to custom paint it. He got as far as fibeglass running boards and then became very ill. He disconnected the linkage for the transmission and removed most of the wire harness. He took out the inner fender wells and was going to convert it to a v8 manual 4 speed but never got to it. The car has been sitting in his garage since 2007 and after he realized he was never going to get to it, he elected to sell it to me. I bought the car in mid summer with the intention of restoring it to a original 1940 car. I do not have the time to do it so I am listing it to give someone else the opportunity to either restore it or Hot Rod it. I jumped wired the starter (new rebuild starter) and took a carb off one of my other 6 cyl engines. I put a battery in and the car fired right up as video will show. there was no smoke, knocks, or misses. I removed the carb and put the original (that needs rebuild) back on,(pics show original carb on) and left the rebuilt starter on the engine. I put a muffler on just for the video but removed it after the video was taken. The body has an older black repaint with virtually no rust. I did see some bondo in the right rear fender( which pics will show). There is no rust in the floor pans and trunk pans or frame. In my opinion, this is a very straight body, The interior is all original but needs upholstry as pictures will show. The glass is all there with a few side windows needing replacement from small cracks as pictures will also show. I put all of the extra pieces that were removed off the car on a table. To the best of my knowledge, all trim and missing pieces look to be there. I do not want to over call this car or undercall this car, so feel free to call me if you have any questions at all or come and physically inspect the car by appointment. I have set my reserve well below the value of what this car should bring to ensure a sale. I can help recommend a shipper I have used in the past if needed. This car rolls very easily and will load on a trailer with no problem. I have a clean Iowa title with matching numbers to the car.
