Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a very unique, low production limousine, that will actually fit in a regular size garage. It is less than eighteen feet in length, has a 131 inch wheelbase, has seating for seven "they say" and has a working electric partition. It is powered by the 2.6 Litre Mitsubishi engine, automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. It is loaded with luxury features like AC, PS, PB, Power Windows, Locks, Seats and Partition and it has leather seats. These Executive sedans and limousines were built from 1982 until 1986, with a total production of around fifteen hundred units, for sedans and limos combined! Due to their size, they did not work out very well in the limousine industry and wsere quickly disregarded and many abandoned as worthless, at that time. This creates an interesting scenario, low production and a very low survival rate! And, this car came to be during Lee Iacoca's reign at Chrysler, a very good and profitable time for that corporation. Add to this the fact that this is a K-Car, with a recently formed club and there you have it! A future collectible, for the price of cheap transportation! To the person who buys this car, your efforts and investment are surely going to be rewarded. Suffice it to say that this car needs restoring. It runs and it drives fairly well. The engine sounds good and the transmission shifts properly. The front-end and brakes work well. The glass is good and the windows are currently working. The glass divider "partition" opens and closes properly. The radio plays, but not well. The heat works and the AC would work, but I am told it needs a "controller" or something along those lines. Technically speaking, some people might use this car for cheap transportation and fix it up as they go. For the most part, the car is complete, missing part of the rear radio cabinet. As you can see, the car is pretty much all there and very solid. It even comes with it's original window sticker, owners manual and extra keys! Originally a California car, it then moved to Oregon and came to New Jersey about a year ago. Since then, I had the carburator rebuilt, fluids changed, a tune-up, belts, hoses, battery and the front-end and brakes checked. It is very roadworthy, but remember, it is not an overly powerful car, although it cruises comfortably at highway speeds. I did not put tires on it, so they need to be replaced right away. As these 2.6 Litre Mitsubishi engines are known for a few quirks, they are also known to be fairly durable. The speedometer works properly, however, the digital odometer is not showing the mileage, so the previous owner guessed that there was roughly 68,000 miles on the car. We have driven it another one, or two hundred miles since owning it. The car needs to have some rust repair done on the roof, near the drip rails, on each side "see pictures" The vinal roof needs replacing, the headliner is sagging and needs replacing and the carpet should be replaced. There are dings and scratches on the car, really it should be repainted. The rear radio is in a box in the trunk, however part of the rear radio cabinet is missing. The interior lights are not working. And probably more from lack of use, the power locks are sticky and two of the doors are sometimes sticky, but they seem to be getting a bit easier to open, with a little use. This car is a unique opportunity for someone who likes to do some of their own work. I believe that this car is also an opportunity to buy a car that you hardly ever see. I have read somewhere that there are less than a hundred examples of these rare cars known to exist. How much that rarity will be worth in the future is anybody's guess, but you never know, it might be the next sensation. I have really tried to describe this limousine accurately, but your opinion might be different. You are welcome to come see and drive this car, or to ask questions before you bid. The car will be sold AS-IS with NO warranties expressed, or implied. The reserve is realistic, so please bid to own. My name is Bill Marcy and you can call me at 201 954 3159 and I will be happy to answer your question. Thanks for reading my ramblings and looking at my auction. Good luck and have fun bidding! yre
