Vehicle Detail

0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Custom Flat Fender Jeep on CJ7 Chassis This totally unique Jeep is like none other. It may be the only flat fender in existence with lots of leg room. I took a brand new all-steel body and stretched it a total of 19 inches for truly comfortable, yet hard core wheeling. It has been lengthened 6 1/2" in the cockpit; 4 1/2" in the bed; and 8" in the front fenders and hood. It features a fuel injected Chevy small block; T18 4-speed transmission; Dana 20 transfer case with crawler gears; 4:10 gearing; Detroit Locker in rear differential and a optional in/out OX Locker in the front differential; Trail Ready beadlock wheels; 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires; full 6-point roll cage; tilt GM steering column with leather-wrapped wheel; super comfortable Steelhorse seats; Warn 9500 winch; 25 gallon fuel tank; thick wall 2X4" custom rocker sliders and rear bumper; transmission and transfer case are tucked up into frame for maximum clearance and a flat underbelly without negatively impacting center of gravity; custom billet dash insert with VDO gauges and column-mounted tach; dual electrical outlets for driver and passenger heated vests; 1/4" Armacoat coating on interior of body; reverse-shackle front springs with extra spring at shackle to increase droop when needed; heavy duty rocker protectors; and two tops (a bikini top and a brand new CJ7 top that has never been out of the box and will require a bit of alteration at installation). Also it comes with a new folding Steelhorse rear seat (still in its box). I built this Jeep to emulate how I thought Jeep would build a modern version of the flatfender. It took 22 months for the build which I completed in 2001. The vehicle has approximately 15,000 miles on it since the build. The fuel injected 305 cubic inch Chevrolet small block has approximately 10,000 miles since it was rebuilt. It has proven to be a fantastic trail rig covering all types of terrain and in all kinds of weather and getting us there without fatigue. And, it draws a crowd because there's not another flatfender like it on the planet. Side note: When I finished the Jeep I put in an indoor car show. George Barris, the famous custom car icon, was there and told me "You did a great job on the Jeep." It has some rock chips in the paint and two small dents on the passenger side in the front and rear fenders (see pictures). In spite of these minor flaws the vehicle looks and performs great!
