Vehicle Detail

This truck is in exceptional condition and 1/10 the price of a new one. I have no doubt that you could drive this another 100,000 miles trouble free. 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 4X4, 5 speed manual, 118,000 miles. It has the long bed and extended cab. It has the 5.7 liter Vortec engine. I got 16- 18 mpg- less with the camper. I purchased this truck in December of 2003 with 91,000 miles. I believe I was the 3rd owner and that the truck has been a Colorado truck since new. The Carfax report showed no accidents when I bought it and I have had no accidents while I owned it. I am selling because I use it so little- only 3 times(with camper) each of the last 2 summers. It has been garaged and not driven during winters. The truck is in great shape and looks good- there are some scratches and little dings that I could not get a picture to show. The interior is in very nice shape. I have replaced the windshield, oil cooler lines, 02 sensors, fuel filter, serpentine belt, plugs, plug wires and distributor cap. It has a fresh oil change and transfer case oil change. I will discount the price $250 if I have not finished recommended maintenance of changing the fluids in the diferentials, trans, power steering and brakes before you purchase it.(see below) Here are some more features of the truck: Power windows, door locks, power seats, lumbar support, AM/FM cassette, cruise, A/C, etc. and it all works. The rear window is a slider. It has a K & N air filter. There are 2 tow hooks on the front. Alloy wheels-the tires are Goodyear Wrangler LT256/7516 and they are E load rated. I bought them soon after I bought the truck and they have a lot of miles left on them. The hub caps have some rust spots. The truck battery is OK and there is space for a RV house battery for easy access. There is a hidden B&W goose neck hitch and a 2" receiver hitch. The bed has a GM bed liner- not sprayed in. There are a few problems: A mechanic throughly checked out the truck($88) and noted that the oil cooler lines were leaking/seeping and needed to be replaced. I have replaced them. He also recommended that the differentials, transfer case and transmission should be drained and the fluids replaced. It has a fresh engine and transfer case oil changes. Grease Monkey did not have the correct items to change the differential and trans fluids. Grease Monkey quoted $120 for that work. The mechanic also recommended that the power steering($79.95) and brake fluids should be drained and replaced($45.00). I will reduce price if I have not completed those maintenance items before you buy it. The mechanic noted that the front brakes are at 40% and the rear brakes are at 35%- the Chevy dealer says that the brakes should be replaced when they get below 20%. The drivers side door bezel is cracked-but door opens fine- and I replaced the hinge pins two years ago(not easy to do). There is one nagging problem. The 'check engine' light comes on occasionally and the engine loses a little power sporadically. After 30-40 miles the light goes off and the truck runs fine. I had a local mechanic check it with the diagnostic computer and it showed that the oxygen sensors needed replacing. I replaced all 4 of the sensors and the fuel filter. I got a little better mileage but the light still came on. I went on line to see if I could find an answer and it may be a bad connection. It has been happening for 2+ years, it is irritating but not enough that I have wanted to keep looking for a solution. I have driven it about 800 miles this summer and the light came on twice.I would not hesitate to take it on a long trip and hopefully the 'check engine' light would come on and stay on then a Chevy dealer or mechanic could identify it and fix it quickly. I have a clear title for the truck and the Carfax report I got when I bought it dated 12/03. The truck has complete manuals and receipts during the time I owned it. You can call me at 970-247-7730. I live a few miles north of Durango. I will be out of town 9/29 to 10/2 but will return email messages or cell messages at 970-903-2545 I may trade for a smaller camp trailer. On Oct-02-11 at 07:23:39 PDT, seller added the following information: At the BUY IT NOW price($5250) I will discount the price $250 if I have not finished recommended maintenance of changing the fluids in the diferentials, trans, power steering and brakes before you purchase it.(see below)
