1976 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40 I own a FJ40 restoration shop, I offer a few choice Cruisers for sale on eBay a year. I bought this FJ in the high desert climate of Southern Idaho, did a full restoration, vehicle has 150 miles on it since completion. I do not build the super high dollar museum type Cruisers since our economic collapse, but offer extremely nice and well built vehicles at a reasonable cost. This FJ40 has a rebuilt small block chevy 350 built to 300HP. Electronic HEI ignition, edelbrock electric choke 4-barrel, Saginaw power steering conversion. The lift is a Rancho 2.5 in with shocks and Con-Ferr shackles. The tires are 32 in Bridgestone. Doing the SBC swap makes these much more fun to drive, cuts off 250lbs of weight compared to the inline 6, gas mileage is about the same if you drive it nicely. I rebuilt every component on this vehicle that needed attention. Body If you have been in the FJ market, you know how hard it is to find rust free vehicles. I look at 20 supposed rust free Cruisers to only buy 1 or 2 of them. I found this one in the high desert, it was 98% rust free to begin with. This is so so so important, if you buy rusty or previously rusty they are a nightmare. I cut out the couple rust spots in the rear and replaced them with metal. All the panels on this FJ are original to this truck. Cruisers come with a bad single stage enamel paint (part of the reason for serious rust). I painted this Cruiser with a PPG basecoat clear coat. It has been wet sanded several times to give it a spectacular finish. You will see more orange peel in my brand new BMW than this cruiser. The retail cost on this paint job at my shop is $17,000. I only use the best materials, it also takes a tremendous amount of time to do it correctly. This paint job is spectacular, pictures can’t show how well it looks. Remember though, all paint jobs look good in pictures, its at 2 ft away in person you see the difference. The last picture shows this Cruiser original paint before I restored it, it was painted back to the factory color inside and out. I painted the fiberglass lid and bezel bright white instead of the stock off white color, it really pops. The underside is coated with POR-15 (the best stuff available) much better than factory, and a must for any east coast driving. New door seals throughout. I re-upholstered the original seats with a marine grade fabric, not only does this not burn your butt like the stock vinyl, it cleans up easy and is much more durable. The factory roll bar is in place. This FJ is setup to tow a small trailer up to 3500 lbs, also a stinger receptacle in the front. So, you slip in your stinger to launch a boat etc from the front. There is a nice CD player installed, but no speakers. There are no good way to mount speakers in FJ40’s so I leave that up to you. Overall, this Cruiser is one of the best out there, it will continue to appreciate in value, It runs, drives, looks great. This was built to be driven, not looked at in a museum. I want to be clear and state this is not a 100k FJ40 that would be trailered to car shows, it is well above driver quality, but not absolutely perfect. If this Cruiser was any nicer you would be afraid to drive it. I’ve built the high dollar units, I can build you one, but nowhere near this price. I encourage any 3rd party inspection during the auction. I own Auto Appraisals & Pre-Buy Inspections so skip me when looking in the phone book. I do provide an insurance appraisal with this FJ. Please be real about a vintage vehicle, they do need tinkering at some point, that is part of the fun. I’ve sold these all over the world sight unseen for years without incident, but I realize everyone’s expectations are different so please ask questions. I want to make sure this is the right purchase for you. I require a $1000 non-refundable deposit via paypal immediately after the auction ends (no exceptions) the rest paid cashiers check or bank to bank wire transfer within 7 days closed auction (no exceptions). Financing for Cruisers are near impossible, there are only a couple credit unions I know of that will do it. If and only if you have a pre-approval letter for this amount will I deal with financing. I hold a clean clear WA state title in my name, I send it to you once the funds have cleared. If you buy this through eBay, this means you own it, not the first chance to look at it. I set up shipping, you pay the shipper directly, cost is $600-1100 in the lower 48. I will deliver this FJ up to 300 miles from Benton City WA at $1.75 a loaded mile. I will take it to the US/Canadian border, but not into Canada. Canadian paperwork on your side is fairly easy, I will assist. I’ll answer some FAQ’s I get every Cruiser Auction. If I fly in from 2000 miles away can I drive this home? Yes, it will make it, but have you ever ridden a Harley that far? About the same comfort. Will you hold if for me? If paid if full within 7 days, I will hold it up to 1 month. I’m looking for a nice FJ40 around 5k? Nice and 5k FJ40 do not go together, decent un-restored units start at 15k. I don’t offer clapped out junkers on a budget, I have a realistic price on this, save the lowball offers, every FJ40 I’ve had for sale on eBay has sold within 2 weeks of the listing. I’ve found over the years being so direct in my listings saves both the buyer and seller a bunch of time, I don’t have to talk anyone into an FJ40, these things really sell themselves and nice ones are not for sale long.
