DRIVELINE LLC is proud to present another great car. The civilian Hummer H2, has nothing on this car. The only thing they share is a VORTEC engine and a pair of tow hooks. When it comes to patrolling the streets, Tahoe is clearly a vehicle of choice. Driven by secret service, government officials and police has clearly showed that his car is most reliable and most prestigious in its class. The Z71 has the look, and cache, of the military vehicle, yet it has all of the requisite accouterments of a luxury SUV. Despite the monster tires with off-road tread, the ride is surprisingly quiet and smooth. Inside, the leather seats are sumptuous and comfort items, such as Bose stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear-seat audio controls are there to make your journey pleasant. If you want to do serious brush bashing, it does that quite well, but I suspect few owners will put their vehicles to the test. Side rails offer rock protection. Optional side steps make getting in and out easier and they can be removed for off-roading by taking out a handful of bolts. Front and rear tow hooks are standard, as are front and rear receivers for trailer hitches. The engine is GM's 6.0-liter V-8 Vortec, and it cranks out 325 horsepower and 385 foot-pounds of torque. A unique electronically controlled throttle changes sensitivity when the low-gear transfer case is engaged, giving the driver a throttle that is easier to modulate in difficult off-road conditions. Full-time four-wheel drive is optional, and the driver has several driving modes from which to choose. Using buttons on the dash, it can be put into: high open (normal travel); high lock (snow or slippery commutes); low lock for serious off-roading; low lock. The traction control system applies the brake to any slipping wheel, enabling the Z71 to move if only one wheel has grip. Essential lines and cables and running gear were tucked up above the frame, and the undercarriage was protected with plates to protect the engine, transfer case, fuel tank, and other sensitive gear. In addition, rocker protectors made of steel tubing were added. This all sounds pretty heavy duty, and it is. But sit inside and, again, you can forget you are in a Chevy. The seats are broad and soft yet supportive. The ride is smooth, quiet, and very much the ride of a luxury SUV as opposed to the ride of a military vehicle with some fancy seats and a radio tossed in. This particular vehicle is in great shape. Just look at the pictures and judge for yourself. The vehicle is mechanically sound and the interior looks nice and smells great. This car has NOT been smoked in. The engine sounds great, it handles and drives superbly and has no problem developing high speeds. Car runs straight as an arrow and tires do not pull in any direction.
