Vehicle Detail
HISTORY - I purchased this car in 2006 from a dealer in Tampa with ~27K miles on it and have owned it since. I purchased it with low mileage because I work in real estate locally and have family in TX; thus I drive quite a bit both around town AND on the highway. SO, I recently decided to purchase something else with lower mileage to 'start the clock over' and allow this baby to live the rest of her days with someone who could be kinder to her! The body style is timeless and most people think it's much newer (and much more expensive) than it actually is. This of course always worked well for me in my line of work. It's a lot of fun to drive - smooth, firm, powerful, precise, just like a BMW is known for. CONDITION - The car is in good condition all around with only a few small needs that I know of. You know, the pesky little things that don't have to be fixed but someone might want to. These are the things I know of: 1) the plastic trim on the left side of the drivers seat is loose due to the normal wear and tear of getting in and out. The side effect of this is that on occasion the wiring harness comes loose and the power seat controls are disabled until you plug it back in (a 2-second fix). 2) The rear passenger-side window sometimes sticks in the retracted position. I very rarely have any need for it, so it's never bothered me. 3) A portion of the headliner needs to be reglued on the sunroof panel - currently a section of the fabric falls if the panel is just partially left open while the glass of the sunroof is closed. After I have used or opened the sunroof I just tuck it back in if any section of it has fallen. Again, a few-second fix. 4) I noticed a sqeak in the driver's side of the suspension several months back when turning corners. When I took it to the mechanic they said the tire is rubbing part of the wheel well splash guard on the driver's side during sharp turns because the gromets on part of the splash guard are worn and thus the splash guard is loose. It could be replaced to eliminate the noise. There are of course some scratches, nicks and dings - I've tried to show the noticeable ones as much as possible in the photos. ACCIDENT HISTORY - Not having run the report yet I don't know what will show on the AutoCheck but during my ownership the car has been in 'accidents'. Here's the scoop. To start, each time there has been body work done on the car it has been done through either USAA or Progressive insurance at one of their preferred repair facilities. Thus all body work done has been done with the utmost of professionalism and came with a lifetime guarantee through their service plans. 1) Before I made the first payment on the car (ARGH!) I rear-ended someone in a fluke situation. The airbags deployed and the car spent 3 weeks in the shop. These repairs were done at Universal Collision here in Tallahassee through Progressive. 2) My mother backed her Odyssey minivan into the driver's door of my car one day parked in the driveway at her house. These repairs were done at Walker Collision through USAA. 3) I hit a deer with the front right corner of the car at 1AM on the way home from a friend's once at moderate speed (~40MPH). Not much damage to the car but those repairs were done at Universal Collision through Progressive. Lastly, 4) A gentleman backed his F150 into the rear driver's quarter panel of the car at an interstate truck stop restaurant early this year. That repair was also done at Universal Collision through Progressive. FEATURES - From the outside in, this car offers, to name a few: Fog lights HID headlights Signature twin-kidney grill 16" alloy wheels with matching (and fairly recent) 225/55/16 Yokohama YK520 tires 16" full-size spare tire. Jack, etc. included Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with traction control 5-speed automatic sport-shift transmission 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine 4-wheel disc brakes Leather interior with wood trim CD player and great sound system Automatic climate control Rain-sensing wipers Multi-information display computer (monitors statistics and maintenance history) Dual power seats Front and side airbags Power sunroof/moonroof Lifetime-warranted window tint Lots of other cool and fun stuff that I can't think of! SHIPPING AND PAYMENT - There will be a $500 non-refundable deposit expected by paypal within 24 hours of auction close. Balance of money to be due within 7 days or at time of pickup, whichever occurs first. I'll be glad to help however I can with shipping arrangements. I recently used White Glove Auto Transport to ship the replacement car I bought off Ebay to me and would recommend them. Amber was the main dispatch there if I remember correctly and she was very helpful. We live in Tallahassee, FL which is the capital city and home to the Florida State Seminoles. It's not a raging metropolis but we do have a decent regional airport and I can pick you up there if you like. TITLE - The car is paid off and I have the Florida title in hand in my name, ready to be signed over. If you plan to title it in Florida we can go to the DMV together and make the transfer. If not, I'll sign it over to you and we'll sign a bill of sale for records' sake. PRICE AND RESERVE - I've enjoyed this car while I've owned it and want someone else to be happy with it, too. I've set the reserve price at $5,900 for bids and the 'buy it now' at $6,500. The car is also for sale locally, so if it sells here first I'll remove the listing. Please feel free to email kenleystringer@gmail.com or call me at 850-228-1486 on my cell with any questions. I'll be glad to answer them to the best of my ability. On Sep-20-11 at 12:07:38 PDT, seller added the following information: RESERVE NOW REDUCED to $5,500. We want to sell the car (: SORRY to previous bidders - I had to re-list the item because it came to my attention that the VIN was off by 1 letter. Still available! A couple of other questions were asked during the prior listing - Regarding fuel mileage and gas type - In Tallahassee I would say I drive a ‘mixture’ of mileage. I-10 runs through the middle of town and is one of the main corridors through town plus I service real estate listings in both of the neighboring counties. So, over the span of a tank of gas I’ll usually average 19.7-20.1 on the computer. If we’re on the highway cruising on a long trip, like when I visit my family in TX I usually drive about 75 and average 26.5-27.1. If I’m on state highways and cruising 55-60 I’ll get over 30mpg. For the balance of power the car has I’ve always been happy with the economy. The powerband is pretty torque-y so very rarely does the car rev above 2500-2600 RPM in normal driving. It feels docile during normal driving but is very sporting if you push it a little harder. The transmission is very smooth and is actually adaptive, too and learns your recent driving habits. Many times, when you’ve been driving easy for a while and are accelerating slowly away from a stop, it will start off in 2nd gear. On the gas – I know the engine has ‘knock sensors’ that would permit it to run on regular fuel but I’m a pretty staunch rule-follower about stuff like that. I put premium in it (which in Florida is 93 octane). Technically it requires 91 Octane but our mid-grade here is 89 and low-end is 87. When gas was above $4 a gallon sometimes I would refill on a half-tank and put in mid-grade figuring it ‘balances out’ (: Any other questions and I’ll be happy to answer them. Thanks Cliff. Regarding repairs history - Hi Cliff. Thanks for your message. I do have records and would be glad to give everything I have. I have only had 1 of what I would call 'major' mechanical problems over the years. The hydraulic control unit for the DSC (dynamic stability control) system went bad fall of 2009. Apparently it's a common problem as mileage increases on these cars. Being that the system is linked to the transmission and ABS, it's kind of a must-have. SO, to make sure it was done right, I had that work done at the dealership with factory parts. I've had other things I've had to repair over the years as would be expected but never anything else related to drivetrain. I replaced one of the ballasts on one of the HID headlights earlier this year, I replaced the motor on the windshield wipers about 2 years ago. Valve cover gasket, serpentine belts, fan clutch and one computer control module have all been done within the last year. I'm also glad to help coordinate with you if you'd like to have the vehicle inspected, too. Just let me know. Thanks again for your message - Kenley
