One of the Best Looking and Driving Rust Free examples of a 1983 Diesel Chevette around This car is a fantastic example of a very rare car, and getting more rare every day. This was my weekly driver, I commute to work weekly and this car sits at the airport waiting for me to come back and drive it to work. I drive it about 330mi round trip or 6-700 miles a month, as well as a few long distance 800-1100 mile trips and it has always started and got me where I was going (with one exception, but it now has a new Alternator) This car has served me well, and the fuel mileage has allowed me to save up for a different car, that is the only reason I'm selling is I just purchased a Jetta TDI Deisel and need to say goodbye to a trustworthy friend. In fact if my commute was on the freeway the entire time I would probably still be keeping her, but 3/4 of my driving is on the two lane roads in Oklahoma and deer are everywhere, so I really need a car with airbags, just in case. This would make a great commuter car as I have done, or a local grocery getter, kids first car, or colleage car. Or it would also be a great candidate for a Bio-diesel conversion. Or for the survivalist, with biodiesel as well as the fact that the car has no electronics controlling the engine (all mechanical) it would survive an EMP blast and be one of the only vehicles in the world still running. So here are the particulars of this fine example of an early econocar: 144,100 original miles, thats an average of about 5000 miles a year. Rust Free 1983 Chevy Chevette 4dr Hatchback, with a 1.8 Isuzu Diesel engine. 4 speed TH200 automatic transmission Floorboards are solid, and were sealed to keep them that way. No leaks, had the early 76-79 Windshield gasket installed (1980+ gaskets had very bad sealing properties) Drives straight and true, with no pulling or woble/shake all the way to 70+ Good Base/Clear color matched paint in the last 6 months (looks good from 5 Ft. and really good from 10) New Windshield. All other glas is crack free and all original (factory tinted - SolarShield or whatever GM called it) Working Rear defroster Very good heater Have Factory 1983 Chevette Maintenance Manuals, and Owners Manual, as well as a Chiltons Have original Keys, as well as a copy Seats and Carpet are fantatsic for a car of this Vintage There is no rust on this car, never been in a road salt environment No Accidents, all panels appear to be original. New E-code H4 class Z-beam headlights with Bi-Xenon (true Hi/Lo beams) 4300K Crystal White HID's 1990 Mazda Miata Wheels custom CNC cut centers to exactly match the Chevette hubs Pirelli P4000 tires A complete set of studded snow tires with original chevette hubcaps A period correct 1980's Grant GT Leather Wrapped steering wheel Blaupunkt radio/CD with four Blaupunkt speakers (rear 6x9's are new within the last year) Extra Original shaft style AM radio faceplate Refinished Headliner Refinished door panels Original Jack Glow plug system is origanal, stock, unmollested and fully functioning, starts super easy even in extreme cold. Maintenance In the last 10K Miles New Ceramic front BrakePads and new semi-metalic rears. New Koni Shocks all around Fram Transmission cooler added to deal with Oklahoma Heat Fresh Trans filter and fluids New Alternator with new Isuzu Vacuum pump seals and replaced vacumm pump oil supply line (got one of the last ones available anywhere, last one lasted 144k so should be good for the life of the car) New Brake Master Cylinder New Goodyear Timing belt, Belt Tensioner and Waterpump New Power steering Idler pully New Goodyear Power Steering Belt New Dayco Alternator Belt Oil Changes with Bosch Filters and Shell Rotella T Diesel Oil (last change at 143K) Added a Moroso Quick Drain Drainplug Radiator flushed and cleaned Fuel Filter Changed at 130K (have new Wix filter ready for next change) Drive this car anywhere, its ready to go to a good home. Now like all vehicles there is some bad, so here goes: Headliner, new fabric, but backerboard a little wavy, but not bad. Sunvisors are Blue (its all I could find) Radio worked until a few weeks ago, I accidently pulled the 12V+, will try and fix before end of auction. But not broken, just needs power hooked back up. 5-10 Ft paint job. But she is shiney and I still get lots of looks, still has its WOW factor. Heater controls are very stiff. One small tear in the side upper side of the drivers seat (almost forgot its even there) One small piece loose on the dash opeing for what used to be the factory AM Speaker. Look at the pictures, ask me questions and bid on this wonderful little car. I do have a reserve on the car, but I expect that if its anywhere close I'll lower it and let the car go, I just have nowhere to keep a second car.
