Vehicle Detail
Here is your chance to buy one of the last hand built GTs offered by Maserati. The Quattroporte was announced at the 1977 Turin Motor Show and was based on the underpinnings of the De Tomaso Longchamps, which in turn was shared with the Maserati Kyalami. The Quattroporte III was Produced from 1979- 1990 with just 2,155 being built, of that only 1,821 were 4Portes. The QP3 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and from certain angles has a similarity to both the Delorean (windshield and A pillars) and Iso Fida (rear window). In its time the car was seen as a competitor to the Bentley Mulsanne and the Aston Martin Lagonda. The particular Quattroporte has all factory manuals and tools and shows well. It has been very dependable as a “summer toy” and has been driven a few days a week throughout the last two summers following seven plus years of storage. The car starts well and shows good oil pressure on the dash gauge, idles well and runs to well above highway speeds with little effort. The car received new spark plugs, wires and a rotor – though it sounds as if it could use a valve adjustment as they are slightly loud. the car has been repainted a darker shade of brown, and I had the roof repainted last year as the original paint had cracked and peeled in sections. There are some paint flaws and some slight bubbling has begun around the rear window (see pics). The interior looks great for its age, and is all original. The dash gauges all work with the exception of the odometer and the ammeter. All lights and controls work, the clock keeps accurate time and the original Blaupunkt stereo works and still has the wired in remote. The leather on all seats is amazingly supple, sadly the stitching on the edges of the seats has dried out and “let go” in spots. If you have never been in a Quattroporte III the headliner has to be seen to be believed – it is truly unique!! The carpets are all in good shape and the car comes with both the original mats and the aftermarket logoed mats. The trunk carpets are in great shape and all tools (and tool rolls) are included. > I have documents back to 1994 when the car was sold by D&D leasing, its original purchaser. The car was sold from British Motor Car Distributors of San Franscisco, California to D&D Leasing of Sausalitio, California on November 8, 1983. D&D Leasing held the car until February 20, 1994 when it was sold to a gentleman who had houses in both Edmonton, Alberta and Palm Springs, Califonia. The Quattroporte was then imported into Canada on the 8th of March 1994. The car was sold to the gentleman I bought it from in 1997 and was driven until 2001. I bought the car December 22, 2009 and have driven it for the last two summers. I am the fourth owner. I love this car and would like to keep it, but I have run out of space and would like to use the proceeds from this auction to aide in the restoration of one of my other cars. Here is a very short clip of the car driving (sorry its so short): On Sep-22-11 at 22:52:17 PDT, seller added the following information: More pictures available at : http://s100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/cokebear17/Maserati/On Sep-24-11 at 11:25:31 PDT, seller added the following information: New Videos and Pictures ( I am posting them as I sort my files and find more pictures of the Quattroporte) uploaded to : http://s100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/cokebear17/Maserati/
