You are bidding on a 1980 Shay Model A Deluxe Roadster with less than 18,000 original miles. Always stored inside. Shay’s were factory produced in a business arrangement with Ford Motor Company utilizing Ford driveline and suspension and sold through Ford/Lincoln Mercury dealerships. This car has a dependable modern 4 cylinder Mustang II/Pinto 2300 cc overhead cam engine with an automatic transmission and independent front suspension with front disk brakes. The body is fiberglass with a metal hood and does have the famous rumble seat. Owning a Shay provides the best of all worlds in that it has dependable driveline and the classic 1929 Model A body style. This car is a nice driver that can go anywhere. ENGINE: 2300 cc overhead cam 4 cylinder, smog system disconnected by previous owner. Runs good. New spare fuel pump included. TRANSMISSION: Automatic 3 speed, Good, no problems. REAR END: No problems, quiet. TIRES: 5 wide white wall tube tires with good tread showing checking. Good tread all around. BODY: Good fiberglass with metal hood. Car cover included. PAINT: Original paint. Good, but has some chips and blemishes. Overall quite presentable. GLASS: Good, No chips or cracks. Has a little de-lamination along the edges, but no visual problem. Good wind-wings. INTERIOR/TOP: Good, No rips or tears. Carpet not worn. This past Sunday we took a 160 mile round trip traveling along the expressway at 50-55 mph and got the thumbs up along the entire route. This is an excellent choice for someone who wants to enjoy driving their unique classic car rather than working on it all the time. The automatic transmission makes it a perfect choice for the owner who wants to share their hobby with someone who does not embrace driving a stick shift. This has been my wife’s car and has been an excellent choice for sharing my hobby. I have done my best to honestly represent this fun classic that has been going up in value over the past few years.
