1974 VW Type 2 bus/van project vehicle. Offered for sale as is, where is, with no guarantee or warranty. This vehicle runs, drives, and stops, but it has not been licensed or on the road for several years. It will require a thorough mechanical checking and the required repairs to make it roadworthy as well as substantial interior and exterior restoration. The vehicle was bought new in Hicksville, NY on June 11, 1974 at Walter-Donaldson, Inc. The original owner's manual and Owner's ID plate are still with the van. After its NY purchase, the van was owned by a family in Virginia for many years and annually safety inspected until it was stored about a decade ago. The previous owners told me the engine had been overhauled to run on no lead gas. The vehicle starts well and I have driven it short distances on my property. It has many rusty spots and few rust holes in the body. I have looked under the van and the frame and suspension look OK. The floor pan has been patched at some time in vehicle's history. The front seat upholstery will need to be replaced and sliding door is rusty at it bottom edge. The odometer shows 55,015 miles, but the actual mileage may be higher. This vehicle is eligible for historic registration in most states. The purchaser must pick up the vehicle or arrange for its pick up.
