Vehicle Detail
1966 Lincoln Continental Coupe You are bidding on an exceptional fully documented one owner, unmolested original survivor! Simply gorgeous. This car was originally purchased in 1965 in Milwaukee, WI. The owner of this vehicle was a non-smoker who drove the vehicle roughly 3000 miles a year for the next 30 years. He took meticulous care of it as the pictures indicate. About 15 years ago, he purchased another car (which now has 12,000 miles on it) and he continued to drive the Lincoln. Production of the Lincoln 2 door was stopped in 1960 and restarted again in 1966. This is the first year of that production series in the coupe model! The car is equipped with a strong 462 V8, and many options including power steering, power brakes (front disc), power antenna, rear speaker, power seats, compass, power windows and more! The History - 12 years ago I spotted the car for the first time as I saw an elderly gentleman pulling into his garage. I continued to see the car around town but it was "not for sale". By chance a few months ago I noticed his house was for sale, I looked in the garage and the car was still there. Unfortunately, I learned the owner passed away, and having no immediate family (he never married, no kids) I got in touch with a relative who I purchased the car from. Condition - The relative who sold me the car said this was his pride and joy. He was always cleaning it and making sure it ran in tip top condition, and it shows. The car's body is striaght as an arrow, no accidents, and origianal paint that shines like it's brand new. The undercarriage is rust free with no holes, and the floors, wheelhouses and trunk are as solid as a battleship. The chrome trim is exceptional and the glass is free from any chips or cracks. The seats are in great condition, no rips or tears and the power seat works great. The back seat looks like it's never been sat in (he had no kids, so maybe!). The headliner and visors are in beautiful condition, and all the power windows work great. The dash has a crack near the speaker, which I understand is quite typical for this car and the rear speaker deck looks to be faded and a little warped from the sun. Driveability - Smooth. It glides down the road and is an excellent cruising machine. The dual exhaust is in great shape and was maintained regularly by the owner, including the resonators before the mufflers. The chrome tips were added to the car by the owner and have been on there for quite some time. The steering feels good, and it shifts nicely. My mechanic went throught the entire car and replaced whatever he thought it needed including: New battery Oil change Transmission fluid/filter, etc.. Assorted fuel filters/hoses/belts Complete brake job New rear wheel cylinders Rear leaf spring rubber bushings Complete Tune Up / plugs, wires, etc.. Electronics - All the headlights, taillights and blinkers are operational. In addition, the interior courtesy lights, dash and even the power antenna are all in working order. The radio crackles a little bit. Tires - It came with a set of 15 inch whitewall tires and the original hubcaps. I wanted it to be a little more sporty and outfitted it with a brand new set of 18" Vision Legend wheels and brand new 18" Kumho Performance tires ($1500.00). The 18's are on it now, but the winning bidder gets both sets of wheels and tires!! Provenance - One of a kind! I purchased this beauty with every intention of keeping it for years. However, I'm having a storage issue and just have no room to keep this car. Included with the sale of the car is the ORIGINAL bill of sale, a COPY of the original title, ORIGINAL ID warranty plate, ORIGINAL owners manual, and numerous parts catalogs, maintainence records and sales material that the owner had kept. In addition, the owner had the trunk filled with several boxes of extra parts (headlights, etc) that also come with the car. There are plenty of 4 door Lincolns for sale, but how many 1966 fully documented coupes have you seen? You won't find a cleaner documented 2 door anywhere. Details - This car is in exceptional condition, but is still a 45 year old car. I have tried to take photos of how clean the door edges, trim, deck lid and undercarriage are but photos do not do this car justice. As you would expect, the car has some random minor blemishes and scratches. There is a little bubbling in the paint on the front of each fender, as well as on the drivers side windshield pillar and bottom of the right quarter panel. The rear bumper has a few inches of chrome tape (placed there by the owner), and a slight bend underneath on the left side. There are no warranties - vehicle is sold as is. If you have any questions or want additional photos please feel free to contact me through "contact the seller" or call Bob at 414-688-4798 before the auction ends. The car is located in Milwaukee, WI and is currently up for sale locally - Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time. I will accept Paypal, cash, or wire transfer to my bank only. Buyer is responsible for shipping the car and it must be paid in full within 7 days of the auction ending. There is no reserve - happy bidding and good luck!
