Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice 2-wheel-drive 1988 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat Longbed truck with 108,494 original miles. I inherited this truck from my brother in 2003, and it was then stripped to bare metal with the bed off, and repainted in its original black and gray color scheme by a local high-end shop. While in the shop, they replaced the left front door with an OEM Ford door, the original having been damaged by the previous owner while backing up. The only rusted items in 2003 were the lower cab corners, which were replaced (unfortunately with aftermarket metal.) Other new items in 2003 include a new windshield and mouldings, new Ford chrome rear step bumper, new rear tailgate applique, new brakes, new master cylinder and power brake booster, new gas shocks all around, new right front ball joint, new upper manifold gasket, transmission service and filter, tune up, new Ford left window motor, new Pioneer speakers in the doors, new Ford trim rings, and new tires all around. I drove the truck daily after the re-paint, but parked it in 2007 after being issued a company truck. It has only been driven occasionally since then, and sometimes only started, to be moved in our driveway. Unfortunately, salty winter roads and being stored outside have caused rust in the usual places for these trucks, such as the previously mentioned cab corners, both bedsides where the wheel lip mouldings attach, the lower right door skin, the hood front edge, lower edge of the tailgate, and for some reason there is plastic filler cracking out on the driver's side of the roof. (See attached photos) The front bumper, grille, and headlights and marker lights are original, and show small pits on the bumper, grille, and headlight chrome, and some plastic fade on the headlights. Otherwise, this truck is clean and in very good shape for being 23 years old, and runs and drives very well. The bed floor had NO rust on 2003, and was stripped and painted before the bed liner was dropped in. The red carpet is original and in very good shape, with hardly any wear or fade. Headliner is excellent. The cloth seat upholstery is faded, with a thin spot on the driver's side, but has been kept clean. Driver's side door panel trim panel cloth insert has burn marks in it from a previous owner, but again, still in very good shape. The driver's side seat belt is locked in the extended position, and will need removed and re-rolled to correct. The paint is still very nice for being 8 years old and stored outside, but does have a few small chips , dings, and scratches. It is factory equipped with a 5.0 (302) EFI V-8, AOD transmission, air conditioning, (A/C inoperative), 3:55 limited slip rear axle, sway bars, dual fuel tanks (with new pumps/sending units in 2004), tilt wheel, leather wrapped steering wheel, power windows, power locks, cruise control, (cruise control inoperative), sliding rear window, (latch broken), and styled steel wheels with 235/75R15 BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's. Recent maintenance includes new TPS sensor, IAC motor, new TFI module, new re-man right window motor (somewhat noisy, though) and the usual oil change / spark plug clean and gap. Additionally, it has a drop-in bedliner, roll-up tonneau cover, A/M fog lights, dual stainless exhaust tips, and spare re-located from the underbody to the bed. A custom-fit Noah California Car Cover will be included in the sale. The negatives I have observed with this truck (besides the rust and the previously mentioned flaws) are a cheap Jensen stereo that was in the truck when I got it which only works on AM, a low brake pedal (all brakes in good condition and stops very well - possible vacuum leak), and an intermittent erratic idle with a corresponding check engine light that comes and goes with the erratic idle. Once started and warmed up, the truck settles in to a good idle with a nice rumble from the dual exhaust tips, and is a very comfortable and good-handling ride. With too many vehicles in my driveway, sadly this one needs to go. Please e-mail any and all questions prior to bidding, as I want the bidder to know what they are getting. Bidding starts at $1950 - Good luck, and thank you for your interest. TERMS AND CONDITIONS: PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING! This is a 23 year-old truck and is being offered as-is, with no implied or explicit warranty of any kind. I have done my best to honestly and accurately describe this truck to the best of my abilities. I accept Pay-Pal and REQUIRE $1,000 deposit within 3 days of auction close. BUYER MUST ARRANGE FOR LOCAL PICKUP IN INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA, NO SHIPPING PERIOD. I am located within ten minutes of Indianapolis Motor Speedway OR Indianapolis Raceway Park (ORP.) NOTE: SINCE MY ORIGINAL LISTING, I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SCANNED CODES, AND NOW HAVE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND NO ERRATIC IDLE. ONLY CODES STORED IN MEMORY ARE INOPERATIVE EGR, AND RIGHT BANK A.I.R ERROR (POSSIBLY FROM A VACUUM LEAK.) I ALSO BACKED UP SEVERAL TIMES AND APPLIED THE BRAKES, WHICH SELF-ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES (Duh....) NOW HAS A GOOD BRAKE PEDAL FEEL, AND VERY GOOD BRAKES! I WANTED ALL BIDDERS TO BE AWARE OF THESE GLITCHES PRIOR TO BIDDING - THANK YOU, AND GOOD LUCK!
