Vehicle Detail

A recent barn find, sitting since the early 1970s! I purchased this about a month ago from the original owner's family. They inherited it several years ago and had best of intentions to restore it, but lost interest and sold. The story they told was was that it was purchased brand new in the family, ridden to Montana, ridden back to upstate NY and then mysteriously disassembled, as it sat when I purchased it. The top end was removed, some other parts taken off and essentially left alone since the early 1970s. It appears to be mostly original, save for the rigid shock replacements and mufflers (one of which has a small hole in it). The original cylinder head was missing at purchase, so I obtained a '67 (I believe) which will be included with the sale. The engine does kick over (I did it by hand, slowly several times) and the gears seem to all engage and the rods don't feel like they have a spun bearing. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you about the brakes, clutch, handling or anything else. I bought as a project and realized I am going to have no time. I also removed some silly chrome covers for the upper forks and springs which will be included with the sale. The bike would need either partial or complete restoration. I was planning on partial, trying to keep it as original as possible, by just rebuilding the engine, but time got the best of me. So here it sits. There is no title on the bike (NY didn't title bikes until the early '70s). I will give the winner the name and contact information of the original family in case they run into any titling or registration issues if they choose to do so. The little collection of parts included are the carbs, the air filters (probably original, if I had to guess), two sets of pistons (not sure which is correct, or even if they are worth using), the engine stays, the head bolts (would recommend replacement, of course) and the diode. The tank is in excellent shape and original as far as I can tell. I cleaned it up a little and found the inside to be excellent (see pictures). Just to be fully clear, there are indeed some parts missing off the bike, if you see a red zip tie, it's missing. There are probably some other parts missing which I don't know about, but I tried to disclose everything as best as possible. If you have any questions, please contact. I will also include a service manual (Haynes) and a small set of Whitworth sockets and wrenches to the winning bidder. This isn't a forced sale, I'd just like to see it go to a good home. There is NO reserve on the auction, high bid wins. I am not going to end the auction early (unless of course, it's an excellent offer). Will ship, but any shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. On Aug-17-11 at 04:26:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you to anyone who has emailed, but I am not selling individual parts off the bike or parting it out.
