Vehicle Detail

Hello! If you are serious about finding & buying, an older Dodge Ram 3/4 or 1 ton, then look no further. But, please read all of this before you ask questions, as I am trying to answer as much as I can first. This is probably the best, (or one of the top 10) unrestored, heavy duty 1987 Dodge's out there. Family owned since new! My dad bought it new, and I bought it from him in 1993. This truck has never been in the snow, salt, or an accident. Garage kept almost all it's life. Every body panel, seat, carpet, dash etc., is original. All the glass is too, with the "safeguard" emblem. I just took it out of storage last month, after almost 7 years. The oil change sticker on the winshield reads "May - 04", 118k+ miles. I had to change the oil, put a new battery in it, fuel pump, and had the carb rebuilt, (just bad from sitting). Runs down the road great, shifts wonderful, and is very comfortable. Most 3/4 tons are used & abused for commercial work, but not this one. Oh yes, it has hauled some items, and there are scratches or dings in the inside of the bed to prove it, but minor (along with a few new door dings) . The inside of the bed has "not" been painted or rubber coated. The red on top of the bed, & below the white (lower fender & rocker areas) has never been painted either. In the late 90's, I had the white repainted (for door dings), along with the hood and roof (clear starting to fog), by a proffesional shop ( not a cheapo job) and it still looks good. The underneath of this truck, is so clean, it is almost silly. When people look under it, at the floor pans, and bed bottom, they can't believe it. No black paint or undercoating covering up stuff! It is all metal, with factory frame numbers still visible, along with the original spare tire! I will try to show pics of the bottom side. It is equipped with a 318 - 2 bbl. automatic, and Dana rear. Inside is power steering, brakes, windows, locks, tilt, cruise, a/c, intrmt wipers, & am-fm (aftermarket). Outside has two-tone paint, bed rails & tarp, sliding rear window, chrome bumpers w/guards, and cargo lamp. This is one of the last years of the easy to work on era. A simple small V-8 with a carb, but plenty of room under the hood for a 440, or a Cummins Diesel if you wish. This truck is in unbelievable condition, but that doesn't mean perfect, as nothing is perfect. But it's damn nice! Since you can't go out and buy a "new" '87 Ram, at least you can come close. I think it will need a power window motor for the right side, as it doesn't work after being in hiding since '04. The air came on, but didn't blow cold as for the same reason (time sitting). I did not try to charge it up, but I'm sure it will. Well, That's about it, so I hope I helped you in your search for a classic pickup truck. You will not be dissapointed in this one. Thanks for looking. Eric.On Aug-13-11 at 05:06:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, here's an update to some questions I have recieved. (1) Yes, this is a Ram 250 Royal SE. I just didn't put that in the listing title, sorry. (2)..Yes, this is a non-smoker vehicle, and always has been. As a matter of fact, my dad took the little black tray out long time ago. The cosmetic dash pullout door is there with the lighter, just no little tray. (3).. It does have an aftermarket stereo, that was installed (not by me) shortly after I bought it, along with amplifier/booster under the seat. No, the dash was not carved up or changed, to put the new one in, so you can install a factory one or an updated new one. This one is a flat faced digital stereo w/cd player, which lights up and works, but no sound is coming from speakers. I think there could be a fuse between the radio & amp that might be blown or connection bad. I really didn't check it out, because I don't do radio/elec/or under dash work, (and not a mechanic by trade) and if I don't sell this vehicle, I will have it changed back to original or a newer style. (4).. Yes, it has 8 lug, 16' wheels. (5).. No, this has never been a goverment vehicle. If that's what a history report says, well than it's wrong. This truck was bought here, registered here, and stored here, all between my dad & I over the last 25 year (next spring). Neither him or I, work for the goverment, or ever have. (6).. Yes, this is sold as-is, just like all other older used vehicles. Again, this is an extremely nice used truck, well kept and not abused. Not perfect, but pretty close I'd say. Hope all this info helps, and good luck to ya guys. Thanks for the questions, Eric.On Aug-14-11 at 11:38:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey there, I have to make a correction about the last update. I had been asked some questions, and tried to answer them promptly and I made a mistake. I was asked it if was a 250 Royal SE, and I said yes, but it is actually a 250 LE, as it says so on the glove box, and the Ram fender emblems. Not a big deal, but I just wanted to make it right.
