Vehicle Detail

History: I purchased this 1996 Ford Ranger XLT "pre-owned" from a dealership in 1997 when it had around 47,000 miles on it and have been the sole owner ever since. The disparity between the truck's age and the odometer reading is due to the fact that for the majority of the years I've owned this truck the commute to work was a 7-mile roundtrip and, as often as not, I road my bicycle (simultaneously skewing the annual average and securing my place in "carbon footprint" history) This truck has been fairly-well maintained over the years and had served me faithfully until about 10 months ago when after a quick stop at a convenience store the entire electrical system shut down. I had the truck towed to a supposedly reputable auto shop that kept the truck for about 5 hrs running diagnosis that yielded very little in the way of tangible results. Ultimately I was faced with a choice of spending more than I had to have the wiring harness checked wire-for-wire or getting out relatively cheaply by having the technician "jump" from the fuse panel on the driver's side (illustrated in a photo). At any rate, this got me running for about 6 months until I had to change the crank position sensor and inadvertently broke the wire that allows the truck to fire. I haven't been able to solve the riddle of the wiring and have reached my wit's end with it...that's why its for sale. If you choose to purchase this vehicle know the following things beforehand: This vehicle is NOT RUNNING and has been sitting idle for about 10 mths The front tires have less than 500 miles on them; both rear tires and the spare need to be replaced. The windshield has an irrepairable crack running across it and would also need to be replaced to be roadworthy. The dashboard is in very nice condition, the driver's seat fabric is severly ripped, the headliner needs to be replaced. The clutch is like new and was installed shortly before the meltdown, likewise the crank position sensor and fuel filter. The battery is less than 2 yrs old but has been sitting idle for 10 months. The transmission is 8 yrs younger than rest of the truck. Truck liner needs to be secured at tailgate. Toolbox is serviceable and secures (needs to be cleaned out). Color is actually Plum. If there are any questions that I haven't answered above please feel free to ask and I will answer them as promptly as possible. Thank you!
