Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1956 MGA. I've owned the car for a little more than a year. In that time, I've replaced the wiring harness with a new, braided harness, added the heating unit, installed a new SU fuel pump, replaced the fuel lines with new hard lines, had the carburetors professionally rebuilt by Bob Johnson, installed a correct bonnet safety catch, rerouted the engine lines to their correct runs, installed new spark plugs, wires, points, condensor, and rotor, flushed the block, and had the gas tank lined twice. The car has an 1800cc '69/70 B engine. The transmission is not correct for the engine because the engine code indicates full synchro, and this tran does not have a synchro first gear. It's either the original A tranny or an early B tranny. The car was appraised several months ago for over $15,000, but I'm a little more realistic. I believe the car is worth somewhere between 10 and 12,000. That's what I'd like to get out of it. I've started the no-reserve auction below what I think it's worth in hopes it'll get to that amount through the auction process. I can take whatever pics you want, unless it involves getting under the car. I have no way of lifting the car. The underside is ok. The floor boards are metal, not wood. I've not been under the car save for a few times when it was on the lift trying to fix a fuel problem. The original tank had pin holes in it, so a friend of mine and I replaced the tank with one he had from an A coupe. That tank is the one I had lined twice. The car has a lot of pep when you press on the gas pedal, and is a blast to drive. It has a tan top to match the tan interior. I'm in the process of putting a metal dash in the car, as the wooden dash is not good for grounding. You should see what I had to do to get the map light to work! The wooden dash will come with the car, as will the stereo system that was in it. The speakers are still in the car, but I pulled the stereo out and put the correct block-off plate in its place. All dash gauges work except the tach. All lights work. I've not set the timer on the blinker switch, as I like it to run until I've actually turned, then I manually turn it off. The timer works. This car is a very nice driver but no show car. There are places on the paint where it's chipped off and the underpaint shows through, but not too many places. All the chrome is in good shape. The car is sold as is, with no warrranties expressed or implied. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the buyer. I live close to a Home Depot and WalMart with big parking lots. Car haulers who've delivered or picked up cars from me love the big parking lots. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auction close, preferably through paypal, with the balance due within five days of auction's end. I accept cashier's check or wire transfer into my bank account. Good luck. On Aug-01-11 at 19:54:59 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end the auction early, as I have the car for sale locally on cl. If the auction on ebay gets to ninty-five hundred, I'll leave it on ebay regardless of local offers. Also if you have less than five auctions under your belt, or you have no feedback history, or you're outside the US, please contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. I'm not on here to train you how to bid on ebay. This is an auction site, not a classroom, and a bid on my car is a binding contract, not an opportunity to negotiate price after the auction ends. I've had several good and legitimate questions about the condition of the car. The gas tank is back in the car and hooked up. The metal dash you see out of the car will be painted Viper yellow and in the car by auction's end. The heater is hooked up and everything is working. I ended this auction early on 8/4 because a local buyer paid a deposit that day. He called me 8/5/11 and said he'd lost his job. I'm refunding him his deposit and relisting the car. The car does have the side curtains. I'll take a few more pics of the car so you can see it is all together now. As I put the heater controls in, I noticed the knob on the cable that goes to the door on the bottom of the unit was glued on. I broke it off with a hammer only to discover there is no pressure pin holding the knob in place. I called Victoria British, and Bob said I'd have to replace the entire cable. It's $30 for the whole cable, including the knob. I'm not going to spend any more money on the car, so I'll just send along the cable that I have, the extra knob, and you can decide what to do. I've decided not to put the metal dash in the car, as the paint didn't match very well with the color of the car, even though the paint came from the same can the rest of the car was painted from. The metal dash will come with the car, just not installed. I'm still getting questions about whether the car runs. Yes, it does run well. I had the car in a local car show this last Saturday.
