I love these 59 coupes, and they definately draw alot of attention ... I came across this car in an estate sale 1 1/2 years ago, the owner had 21 Cadillacs in a warehouse, he collected and restored 1950 to 1960 cadillacs. After he passed away most of the cars were sold off , and I had been looking for an origianl Black 59 coupe.... The car had sat in the warehouse untouched for 8 years, some restoration work had been done in some areas including: engine rebuild ... apparently rings and heads done ( cant confirm this but visually looks like engine has been worked on and painted) Brakes, new exhaust, new tires ( the nubs are not even worn off yet) some new glass, carpet replaced. I really havent done anything other than clean it up and get it running again, it hadnt run in 8 years, did the points, and it fired up and ran rough at first, but runs good now, carb and tank had been drained dry. Havent done much to it until the last couple months, The body is very solid, no visible rust, all door pillars are rust free, rear wheel skirts are solid and rust free ( see pics ) and trunk is amazingly dry and clean of any rust ... other cars I looked at seemed to have trunk issues and wheel skirt areas ... The stainless around windows inside and out is very nice ... 2 side door mouldings have a couple of dents/ damage, but there is a bunch of spare mouldings in the trunk. The chrome is nice, no rust on bumper ends, the passenger side front bumper end has some peeling, but no rust, it will need rechromed, Engine runs fine, idles nice and starts without any smoke, needs to be driven and checked over by someone mechanical before a road trip. Transmission shifts good. All lights,(even trunk light works) radio, horn, powerantena, wipers work good. The interior will need seat recovering, the front seat material is dry and seams separating, the back is still decent. The dash has a few cracks, The paint looks original, still looks pretty good when you stand back, or right after washing, but has quite a number of chips and small scratches that have been dabbed in to keep it looking decent. I was planning to have it painted, but its good enough for a driver to work on as you restore it to your liking. tires are new, nubs are not even worn off yet, the front hub caps are from a 57 eldorado, with moon centers, they dont stay with the car, have the other 2 like shown on the rear, just thought the eldorado caps looked sharp on it. All in all its worth putting some money into to take to the next level, but enjoyed as you work on it. I looked a long time to find an original black one with a rust free body. Must have at least 5 positive feedbacks .. contact for confirmation otherwise ... will sell to Canada and US only, may entertain other legitimate bidders, other bids will be cancelled. Reserve is set low, just wanting my money back or close to it ... have just purchased a restored 58 Apache so something needs to move out to make room.
