Vehicle Detail

N0 RESERVE AUCTION for 1959 Chevy El Camino. This car turns heads and gets more attention than you could imagine. If you are looking for a vintage 59 El Camino that you can drive anywhere this is the one for you. 59 El Caminos are becoming quite rare and increasingly difficult to find. Originally this was a Gothic Gold car with a white top. She has exceptionally good sheetmetal with solid floors and bed. It is complete with all the hard to find trim. The current paint is 20 years old and shows some nicks and scratches. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car anywhere. I recently took a 400+ mile trip in 95 degree heat and it performed perfectly and cool. It runs and drives great (PRETTY SNAPPY). You could fly in and drive it home. I am only selling because I am looking to purchase a 1932 to 1940 vintage Ford Street Rod Features include: NEW Holley fuel pump with Edelbrock braided fuel line and filter. NEW MSD ignition, wires, etc. NEW chrome K&N air cleaner and 4" filter. Freshly rebuilt 350 Chevy motor with Edelbrock RPM performer manifold and carb.Rebuilt Muncie 4-speed (M-20) with new clutch and Hurst shifter. Posi rear-end. Hooker Super Comp headers with custom 2 1/2" exhaust and custom side exits. Completely rebuilt front suspension with 2" drop spindles, new ball joints, tie rods, sway bar links, and polyurethane bushings. Newer alternator. Complete new brake system with dual reservoir master cylinder 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES (with drilled and slotted rotors), and all new lines and hoses. Professionally cleaned and sealed fuel tank that was coated with POR 15 and new 3/8" fuel sending unit. Re-built drive shaft with new heavy duty U-joints, balanced, and new center support bearing. Chevy rally wheels with original disc brake centers (not aftermarket). Custom autosound USA-1 stereo system. Interior has been redone and is in good condition as pictured. Items needing attention: Heater core (included) needs to be reinstalled Core was removed and professionally flushed and pressure-checked and deemed good. Needs new speedometer cable. Electric choke needs to be hooked up. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE. Feel free to call me or email me with any questions. Jay @ 317-522-6547 All of the floor pans in this car are very, very nice and solid. If you would like pictures, please email me with your email address. ThanksOn Jul-25-11 at 16:50:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received several questions about the body and paint. Thanks to the gentleman who requested the door bottom picture. I never thought of it but what better way to illustrate the solid body on this car than to show the part which typically rusts first. Although the doors and jams were repainted, the door bottoms were not (thank god) and as you can see the original paint is there and as you can also see they are like new with only minimal surface imperfections. This is a hem seam where the outer door skin is wrapped and folded around the inner door skin. In other pictures you can see similar hems where the floor pan and rocker panels as well as inner and outer fenders are joined and welded. These are the lowest portions of the body and because they are where the seams (hems) are created they are perfect places for dirt, water, salt and crud to collect and subsequently the first places to rust. The condition of these areas in the pictures are testament to how solid the rest of the car is. I could not in good conscious tell you that if you stripped the entire body down to bare metal you would find zero rust so like I did you will have to make an educated assessment. There are splash panels in the rear quarter panels intended to keep rocks, salt dirt and debris from being sprayed inside the quarter panels. these small panels do have some rust but this is to be expected for obvious reasons and they are easily replaced..The paint is not perfect as I mentioned in the ad. There are nicks and scratches and evidence of some dent repairs that could have been done better. My personal opinion is that the car in general has a cool patina to it and I would not change a thing. I have proudly taken it to several local shows and even taken a few trophies. The car attracts crowds and most people have no idea that they were ever manufactured. But if you want a show paint job it would have to be redone. As you might imagine it is impossible to cover every aspect of the car in an ad but I am trying and I welcome any additional questions. Good luck.On Jul-29-11 at 06:35:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end this auction early as I have this item advertised elsewhere
