Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1931 Buick 56S Sport Coupe with golf door and full hard cloth top, rumble seat and straight 8 motor. The car was in storage for 40+ years and I acquired it recently with several other cars. I have listed some and sold some. This car is very interesting with the double side mounted tires and Full covers for them, Haven't seen that so far online. Also the front bumper is fitted with what I can only describe as a push bar and bumperets. It has a door post mounted spot lite and on the driver side fender a mount for something like another spot light, perhaps a siren or such. There is two more lights that mount on the front cross bar, they are in the rumble seat compartment along witht he visor and the gas tank. The rear window rolls down, the interior is basically complete with dome light and handles and such. The wood panels for over the windshield are still covered and have rear view mirror and switch for the wiper motor attatched. See the pictures , the second pic is how I found it in the garage, been there a long time. I have not history but just wonder if it was used in law enforcement perhaps prohibition enforcement as it seems to be unmarked. The original paint is cream or pale yellow and black fenders. The metal is in amazing shape, the rust is only a little surface rust, not even a pin hole that I can find where you see the surface rust in the pictures. The rumble seat is complete and the lid is in almost perfect condition. the blue paint was applied long ago with a paint brush it appears. It also has the interesting number 12 painted on the inside of the windshield, don't know if it was raced back in the day or not. I will be able to have the title for this after the auction. I want to make it clear that I don't have any evidence besides what you see in the pictures as to it being in law enforcement or racing just my observations. Very good car for a street rod or restoration. I own an upscale restoration shop in Indiana and can really say this is a very solid/ complete car. The other cars I have are: 1929 Model A Panel Truck 1931 Model A Cabriolet / rumble seat (Briggs Bodied) 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable hardtop 1928/29 Model A Roadster
