Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a rare 1965 Lincoln convertible. This car runs and drives , but just came out of a seven year nap. The brakes were bled, the carb and fuel pump were replaced with a used Holley carb 600 cfm and an electric fuel pump . These Lincolns are know to get vapor lock, so the carb and fuel pump are a upgrade to avoid vapor lock. The Holley carb had a gasket kit installed recently. The car idles fine , but has flat spots in the acceleration. I am not a carb guru so you will need to get the carb adjusted properly. I let the car idle in my drive way for over an hour to burn off old fuel in tank, the car never got hot, never got vapor lock. I have driven this car less than 100 miles, but i can say the engine sounds good , no exhaust leaks,no oil leaks, the transmission shifts good in all gears. Brakes work alright , but rear brakes lock up if you do a sudden stop, so rear brakes need to be adjusted. Belts and hoses should be replaced soon if you want to make a daily driver out of her. I do not have time to take care of the details, so I have set my reserve low so you can take care of them. Stock 430 V8 engine, power steering. power brakes, three speed auto trans. I have some receipts and the engine was rebuilt in the past. Engine sounds good, no oil leaks, no exhaust leaks. Interior: New white top and new black carpet kit. The seats and door panels were recolored black. Dash cracks under new dash mat. The interior looks good, not perfect, not show room condition, but lots of people tell me the interior looks nice. Paint/body: Body is straight, paint is fair not show condition. Black paint shows all flaws and this car should have been block sanded better before it was painted. The paint gives off a decent first impression, but on closer look, flaws can be found. Glass: All side glass is ok. Small crack on windshield passenger side lower corner (see pic). Power windows need to be serviced and are currently not working. I have done some bypass test on the windows and can tell you most of the motors should work ok, all of the windows switches feel and look good. I think you will need to clean and lube gear drive assemblies and clean and lube tracks and regulators. Electrical: The basics like headlights, brake lights, turn signal all work as they should. Details like am radio, power antenna , power top, power windows etc will need need to be serviced. Power top: This car has a brand new white top and new back window on it. The power top is not currently working properly. The way the top is suppose to work is this, you hold one switch and the trunk opens up backwards, a flap panel unfolds out from the trunk ,then the header bow latch system unlocks the latch, then the top folds back into the trunk and the trunk closes. All parts for power top system are there and in tack. I am an electrician by trade and have done some bypass test on the power trunk top system. I can honestly tell you the header latch system works, the trunk latch system works, the flap panel motor works, and the hydraulics pump runs and sounds like it is trying to work. So my guess is that air is in the lines and needs to be bled out, probably limit switch needs to be adjusted and set, and I suspect the relay for the trunk close needs to be replaced. All parts are still available,if you lack confidence or skill on fixing this yourself, call John Cashman 813 3901950. John is the guru, all the man does is travel from Florida to California fixing power tops and windows on 1961 through 1967 Lincolns. ( I have another 65 Lincoln convertible too, John charged me $1000 to get my top working and one back window working too.) Clean title and current California registration. Has 20 inch 150 spoke wire wheels with 245/35 zr20 tires with at least 60% tread still on them. If you would rather have the stock wheels tires and hubcaps instead of the wire wheels just let me know. So over all this is a decent driver quality Lincoln. it will need some minor nickel and dime stuff to get it ready to be your driver. Do your home work and you will find that a good to flawless restoration will bring $40k to $70k in this bad economy. I have set my reserve price pretty low. My reserve price is way less than half of what an ok restored Lincoln goes for . Please do NOT ask me what my reserve price is unless you first tell me the most you will pay. You can make me an offer if you want, but you should know offers from people who bid on my car will be taken more seriously than offers from people who do not bid. if you wanna fly in to the Sacramento airport to check car out in person, I am willing to pick you up from the airport. Shipping is the buyers full responsibility, however i will work with you on what you need. You can pay for the car however you want, but the car will NOT be released until my bank states full payment has been cleared. Questions are welcome Danny 916 508 1306 On Jul-07-11 at 08:14:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Is 1965 the best year for The Lincoln??? So 1961 thru 67 are great Lincolns. The 64 was the frist year that the back seat was stretched out for more leg room, but 65 was the frist year of front disk brakes. Most people do not like the dash and tail lights of the 66 or 67. So if you want more leg room and disk brakes, but not the funky design of the 66 or 67 that make 65 the best year. They made 3300 convertibles in 65, I am told that less than 500 running and registered 65 convertibles are still around today. Pawn Stars and Entourage both used the 65 ,so they must have known how great the 65 is. These cars are great to drive and a very good investment. On Jul-18-11 at 16:16:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I own the Gold Lincoln in the picture, If you can afford to buy a turn key, always garage kept very nice car I would sale it for $30k. The Gold one has 120k original miles, everything works on the gold one even the am radio and power antenna work. This is my regular driver, I drive it at least twice a week , I have taken it on many road trips, it is ready to drive anywhere right now. I have never tried to sale it before, and do not really want to sale the gold one. strangers have come up to me and made offers, I have turned down $25k cash and I have turned down a Harley with $13k cash too. So 30K firm on the gold one,or you could buy my black one for a little less than half of what I want for the gold one. It would be way cheaper to buy the black one and finish it. I believe the black one will be a good driver with just a little more work.
