Vehicle Detail

I never planned on selling this car, it is the real deal. But same story too many projects keep getting put in front of this so I'm putting it back out there for someone to restore it back to original where its real value is. It is a very solid not disassembled 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 M-21 4 speed car with an optional 3:31 Eaton posi rear end. The original motor and transmission are gone. I have documentation going back as far as 1979 which is when the license plate that is on it was issued. The person I bought it from bought it in 1986 and before him I know of only 2 owners one from 1984 - 1986 only 19 months and before that 1979 or before to 1984. All 3 owners locally raced this car at the Bremerton Raceway. The story told to me was that this was an original 375hp car that was ordered to be raced. The original engine blew up and in 1969 a dealer installed 427 was put in ;ater the transmission was changed to an automatic race built manual valve body. The 427 was blown up in the car when I bought it so was the transmission. This car has sat in the previous owners and my garages for over 17 years without anything ever being done to it. The only real documentation is that it was ordered with Regal Red paint, Ivory White bucket seat interior (one year only), all tinted glass, rear antenna, M21 transmission, and 3:31 Eaton posi rear end (this makes it the "top speed" option only 403 ever built). It also has the rear push pumper and no engine options (power steering, power brakes, or A/C) Also it is a no console car and is a tach dash. So Basicaly this car was ordered with no creature comforts just high horse power options. I have a lot of date correct original L78 parts for this car basicaly everything except the block, transmission, radiator, and fan. I have both the 360 HP and 375 HP tachs one will be included with the car buyers choice. The original 4 speed no console shifter and linkage with the factory reverse switch and wiring is also included, so is the driveline and transmission crossmember. All other parts can be purchased by buyer after auction. I also have 5 correct real deal Kelsey Hayes 14 x 6 JK A3 6 coded wheels already completely restored correct Regal Red with original dog dish caps and Red Line Bias tires. That I will be selling seperate after the car sells if the buyer does not choose to purchase tham as well. They are not included with the car. The wheels on the car are 1965 14 x 6 original wheels with original dog dish caps they are a standard offset though which is not correct for the original SS. They are more deep dish. The tank is good and in the truck because I removed it along with the carpet back seat and headliner looking for the build sheet. Since this car was raced they removed the outside mirrors and installed the battery and a fuel pump in the truck. Also a fuel pump on the fender and fuel and oil pressure guages on the front cowl. They also cut the floor more and had a auto floor shifter installed. I removed the shifter and pedal and reinstalled the correct 4 speed pedals and 4 speed linkage all the way to the return spring . every piece of trim interior and exterior is included with the car it is 100% trim complete. I removed the lower windshield trim and rear window trim to show the lack of rust. It will nee truck and floor pans but the front floors are pretty solid except for drivers area. The quarter panels are original with the vin shown and very solid needing no patch panels. The drivers side fender has been dented up and will need repaired but is very repairable and solid. The hood will need repair or replaced as it does have some minor rust spots in the center of it. I also have brand new chromed front and rear original correct bumpers, and another rust free original hood. I have an original Washington 1966 License plate restored that is number RPO 375 That if the buyer wants can have permanently registerd to this car in Washington if they are a resident for a one time fee never to license again. I also have the original 3872444 Bellhousing that I will be selling after the auction along with factory restored exhaust manifolds no smog, starter, alternator, manifold, all pulleys, harmonic balancer, flywheel, water pump, carb, air cleaner, oil pan, oil canister, fuel pump, coil, distributor, etc etc. if the buyer does not want to purchase first. I have tons of old dealer parts manuals and restoration books literature magazine articles etc etc. I am willing to sell it all if someone is interested in buying everything. I would say I have over $10,000.00 eBay value in extra real parts and pieces. This car has been a local car but I did buy it off eBay over 5 years ago for over $10,000.00 after going and inspecting it. I think this car needs to be restored to original condition for a collector or to go to Barret Jackson. I believe this is a $100,000.00 + car when finished. This is the real deal car for that kind of restoration. I do have the car listed locally and do reserve the right to end the auction early. I am listing at no reserve and if I do not have an interested buyer willing to pay more than the currect auction price I will let the auction run its course and sell it to the highest bidder.. That is acctualy not correct. I am including the factory tach for either the L34 360hp or the L78 375hp engines which this car had to be one of them per documentation. It will be the buyers choice. All credible documentation I have from dealer and reference material will be available to the buyer and available for purchase after the auction or will be sold next week on ebay.On Jul-11-11 at 09:27:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a link to great article and reference about these cars and from a very knowledgeable owner of an L78 Regal Red White interior car. Thanks again! http://www.chevelles.com/years/66/L78.pdfOn Jul-11-11 at 09:31:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Also a picture of what this car factory should look like. My car would be one of these very rare pre January 1966 early cars he talks about. On Jul-11-11 at 11:36:13 PDT, seller added the following information: yet another correction. The drivers fender is not dented up I meant the drivers quarter panel behind the tire was dented up it was from loading on a trailer or jacking up from the quarter panel etc. There is no rust and is very solid it will just need to be pulled back out and some minor body work. This was doen before I gotthe car. The front bumper was perfect when I got the car but when a friend on mine was pulling the car he stopped and the car roilled into the hitch on the back of his truck, creating the dented front bumper. The tirm not on the car that is included is the drivers rear quarter panel trim, the upper and lower front door panel trim and the front bumper filler panel trim. The lower door panel trim and rear quarter panel trim you will see is miising on a lot of restored Chevelles as I believe they are not available aftermarket and either way all the tirm on this car is 100% factory 1966 original. Look at some other nice cars and you will see they have no lower door panel trim and no rear quarterpanel trim. Probably because most quarter panels were rusty and needed repair having no trim present and the rotted doorpanels got thrown away and new ones dont have the trim. When the front door panels were removed on this car the trim was saved knowing it would be needed on the new ones.On Jul-14-11 at 11:34:08 PDT, seller added the following information: A gentelman contacted me and has the original date correct 3855962 cast block date correct (acctually same date as one of my heads) and has offered it top me for 1,500.00 It is an original engine from a 1966 chevelle and he has documentation. That would give you the complete numbers correct engine if you bought all my engine parts. Also I have always known of a guy here in town who has a brand new completly rebuilt correct date and numbers correct M21 transmission with the correct part tag even for this car, he wants 3,500.00 for his transsmission. On Jul-15-11 at 12:08:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had quite a few pretty attractive offers localy and if the bid is not much higher on Saturday I may be pulling the listing to sell localy. Thanks for all the interest
