Vehicle Detail
1979 International Harvester Scout II 345 V8, automatic transmission. 71,927 miles. Fun to drive, great with the top off in the summer! Head turner. Well maintained. Runs great - I drive to work once per week 24 miles roundtrip. Garage kept since I've owned, I don't drive this Scout in the winter. I have service receipts from North Carolina, guessing it spent most of its days there - not a rusty midwest Scout! Improvements I have made - I have all receipts: New poly fuel tank Floor pans and cargo area professionally restored by local body shop (we put a new cargo floor in from Super Scout Specialists) Floor sealed top and bottom with 3M undercoating Improvements before I owned - I have all receipts: Differential/transfer case service New battery in 2007 Tune up - carb cleaned Radiator flush/fill Topper repaint in 2008 by Maaco Front and back brakes rebuilt in 2002 (at 69,000 miles - only has 71,927 on it now) Condition of vehicle: Paint has a few scratches in it from use, otherwise shiny with good clearcoat. Rockers and both front fenders are solid, windshield frame is solid. Floor is new. driver rear quarters has two rust bubbles in paint around wheel well - passenger rear quarter has more rust than driver side. See pictures. Liftgate is rusted, rest of topper is in very good condition. Topper interior is missing headliner and some trim. Interior is professionally undercoated, no carpet. It's a Scout, do you really need carpet? Fuel gauge does not work - I installed a new sending unit with the new gas tank, must be the wires up to the gauge. Steering gear has some wear - I drive with no problems. Truck drives straight down the road - aligned properly. Starts, idles, runs, drives well. Plenty of power from the 345 V8. Dual exhaust sounds good too. Back bench seat in good shape, front buckets are original and have some tears - heavy duty seat covers included and work great. Overall very good condition - this Scout has not seen many if any winters. It is a great looking truck, not many in this good of shape left. Vehicle comes with: Full soft top with hardware. One broken zipper above tail gate on top, otherwise sound (instructions on how to install included). New set of hooker headers with gaskets - they have minor shelf wear but are new. Super scout plastic grill and tailgate inserts (not installed currently, original grill is on truck). Vehicle has hard topper on it now for easy transport. Please email with questions! It's been a fun truck, second Scout I've owned. I'm ready for a new project.
