3 Day Auction With No Reserve & Sold To The Highest Bidder This a Rare & Original 1970 Volkswagen Westfalia "Hardtop" CamperMobile. This Volkswagen Bus is a fairly uncommon "Hardtop" Factory Camper. Most of the campers of the era had the pop top, but one could be ordered without. The nice part about having a non-pop top Camper is that they are lighter, lower, & a little faster then it's brothers. They will fit in almost any garage, while some of the pop tops will not. They still feature the same comforts, yet packed compactly into a normal Bus. Plus, you don't have to worry about the Pop top ever leaking as that is there most common problem. Leaking top's lead into rusty floors. Common to see the pop top Westfalia's but rare to see a original Hardtop version.It was sold new in Southern California and it has been here it's entire life with it's original California Blue plate. A fine example of a True So Cal Bus, Rare to see it still left in town. Remains all of it's original panels & floors/undercarriage. Clean & original body with a older one repaint.Repainted "Cream", the original color. The floors have never been worked on & recites the original undercoating. Roof rails, inner wells, interior floors, spare well & jambs are clean but most important, original. The Interior is mostly original & in good condition. Dashboard & instrument gauges are clean. Remains complete with all of it's original Campermobile interior. The rear bed, table, chair, ice box, stainless steel sink, roof panels, cabinets & back shelf are all in place. All the wood is in Beautiful condition for original. Amazing still to see the has the original flooring in the rear! I added new curtains to the interior but the passenger rear curtain is original. Cabinets open & close promptly. The glass opens with the turn of the crank & Window screens are still in place.Great thing about the interior that it is complete, original & it functions. The two front Buckets are original and unrestored. I was going to redo them but left them original. The original front rubber mat is still in place as well as the door panels. The engine was restored in 2007, costing over $4,900 Dollars alone. All the work was done at "Import Auto Clinic", specializing in Volkswagen's. The Brakes were also redone costing close to $1,300 Dollars. I do have the original receipts for the work & they will go along with the sale. The engine was replaced with a rebuilt long block 1.6 Dual Port. I will upload the service record of all the work done to show specs. Since The engine work was done in 07', it has barley been driven - less then 10,150 miles. Four brand new tires were added from Pep Boys Auto with less then 9,100 miles ago. The 4 speed shifts into all gears smooth. Brakes are in good condition, stops well. Has a hook up for your iPod or car charger for your cell phone. I do have a dash fan that connects to the dash & has a working CD/Aux player. You can literally drive this Bus anywhere at anytime, a very dependable driver for someone. Here is a Vehicle Report dated 6/14/11 of all the Work that was done on it in the recent years. The odometer showing on it now are 32,650.
