Two Vw 412’s The red one pretty complete, as I recall I had a call from the owner he said he needed a starter so I ordered one it was installed but the engine would just barely turn over. After some trouble shooting discovered the crankcase had serious fuel dilution and the bearings were pretty well froze up (this happened all too frequently with this type engine with fuel injection and also if the floats stuck in the open position on carbureted units). The owner did not want to pay to have the engine pulled and rebuilt so sold the car to me. The engine will need to be opened up and at a minimum probably have the crank reground and new bearings installed. Right side push rods and rocker arms have been removed and are in a hubcap on rear floor only 3 push rods, may have scavenged 1 for another engine. Valve cover bail on left side is missing I have one from a type 3 that might fit with a bit of work also the starter is missing. Tires will hold air for a few days but do leak down slowly. Brakes after setting for several years are not working though emergency works ok. Notice rust fwd of passenger door in photo overall car seems to be pretty rust free, not so with 73 floor board behind drivers seat rusted. This car was probably out of the factory fuel injected but someone replaced with the Solex carb as shown in the pictures, this was a common practice but carbs were usually Webbers not solex. Red 412 is a 1972 the blue is a 73. Red VIN 4632011777 as indicated in a photo. I have titles for both cars. The 2nd car blue is only for parts the engine, trans and much of front suspension missing some of the fuel injection parts are included.
