Vehicle Detail

I have for sale here a 1998 Ford Taurus Wagon SE. This vehicle is in exceptionally good condition with the exception of having problems with either the transmission shifter linkage or possibly the valve body, the shift lever will not go from neutral to reverse or park. I work for our county road department and this car belonged to the county and was primarily only used when county officials needed a vehicle to go to meetings in Billings or Helena. The car is rust free, has nearly new tires on the back and had been very well maintained. The 3.0 V-6 engine starts and runs well, no smoke, no leaks. The interior is almost like new considering it's age. The county parked it a couple years ago when it was towed back from a meeting somewhere with the complaint that the transmission wasnt working properly. At that point, due to it being a 1998 model, they decided to get a new vehicle and put this one up for auction and thats where I came in. I won the bidding on the vehicle with the intent of fixing or having the transmission repairs done and then giving the car to my mother in law in Indiana... due to the current circumstances, that isnt going to happen and so I'm selling the car here. The last time it was driven, it drove very well with no issues of any kind other than the current transmission problem. It sells with low opening bid, no reserve and no warranty. Its taking up space in my driveway. This vehicle will have to be hauled on a trailer or truck due to the transmission issue, winning bidder should contact me as to dates and times I would be able to help load the car. Added 7/2/11 ... An interested party asked me if if rolled freely and would it start in neutral... Yes to both questions. When it is started and the gear selector is placed in drive, it will move, I just don't want to drive it like this and possibly damage something further. It acts as if the linkage inside the pan isn't working the selector valve correctly or possibly it has gotten out of adjustment. I had driven the car shortly before the shift linkage issue started not allowing the reverse or park position, it did operate perfectly and shifted through all the gears smoothly, including fourth gear torque converter clutch lock after the three/four shift. As stated earlier, I have way too many irons in the fire right now to drain the transmission and yank the pan to see whats going on. This auction will make someone a sweet deal as just the engine alone is worth two or three times the opening bid...check junk yard prices for a used 3.0 V6 that you cant even hear run ! Not to mention getting an entire vehicle that doesnt have a dent in it anywhere that I've found and everything works except the power antenna for the radio...it stays up.... car has ice cold AC too !
